Emerging applications of large language models in ecology and conservation science

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Large language models (LLMs) mark a major development in artificial intelligence, with potentially transformative implications for ecology and conservation science. Built on advanced deep‐learning architectures, these models can support a wide range of tasks. We reviewed emerging applications of LLMs, drawing on the wider scientific literature

Millimeter/Nano‐Structured Metal Monolithic Catalysts: A Privileged Opportunity for Sustainable Water Purification

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Cross‐scale assembly of metal (sub) nanoparticles and/or single atoms into millimeter/nanostructured metal monolithic catalysts (Min‐SMCs) is highly appealing for sustainable water cleanup, due to energy‐efficient catalyst recyclability, high infrastructure compatibility, and low metal‐releasing risks.

The Tariff Trap: Why Funding Health Programs Through Tariffs Harms Both Health and Democracy

open access: yesWorld Medical &Health Policy, Volume 18, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT In 2025, the Trump Administration imposed significant tariffs on imports to the US as part of aggressive trade negotiations with other countries. Tariffs have important impacts on health that include increases in the prices that consumers and businesses pay for goods and potential damage to global supply chains.

Effects of landscape context on avian specialist response to increased surface temperature in protected areas

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract Human development is a driver of global change and a major threat to biodiversity. Protected areas maintain and support biodiversity, but outside stressors, such as climate change and land use change, can negatively influence natural resources within protected areas.

Si Alloying Enables High Performance in Ce‐Substituted Hot‐Deformed Nd–Fe–B Magnets

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT High levels of Ce substitution typically degrade the magnetic performance of hot‐deformed Nd–Fe–B magnets, posing challenges for developing resource‐efficient permanent magnets. Here, we demonstrate that minor Si alloying in (Nd0.6Ce0.4)‐Fe‐B hot‐deformed magnets effectively compensates for this degradation and enables enhanced magnetic ...

Guanidinium‐Based Covalent Organic Frameworks via Pore Wall Regulation: Efficient Selective Palladium Recovery From Metallurgical Wastewater

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Recovering palladium (Pd) from low‐concentration metallurgical wastewater still poses significant challenges. In this study, triaminoguanidine hydrochloride was used as the key functional site, and three guanidine‐functionalized covalent organic frameworks (GCOFs) were successfully constructed by adjusting the substituents (–H, –OH, and –OCH3)

Sustainability in Managed Aquifer Recharge Projects: A Case Study of Three European Union Funded Projects

open access: yesWorld Water Policy, Volume 12, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Managed aquifer recharge (MAR) is presented as a water management approach that fits well within the broad sustainability agenda. Three European MAR projects' outcomes were analyzed to assess how these projects interpret sustainability. This article argues that MAR projects are pushed to a narrow interpretation of sustainability by funder ...

Construction and application of PPCNN model in evaluating sustainable utilization for regional water and soil resources——taking Sanjiang Plain in China as a case(区域水土资源可持续利用评价的脉冲耦合神经网络(PCNN)模型模糊算法的构建与应用)

open access: yesZhejiang Daxue xuebao. Lixue ban, 2009

Complementary Capacities and Shared Challenges: Lessons From a Brazil‐Australia Water Management Consortium

open access: yesWorld Water Policy, Volume 12, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Transnational collaboration is critical for water‐security innovation, yet actor configurations and thematic priorities remain poorly characterized. We surveyed 92 Australian and Brazilian researchers from the Tropical Water Research Alliance (TWRA), analyzing 11 sets of binary variables on collaboration modes, stakeholders, implementation ...

稻田水资源利用效用的灌排模式响应

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao, 2022
