Climate stability drives multidimensional nestedness of amphibian assemblages in a Chinese sky island system

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 636-654, March 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract The nested subset pattern (nestedness) has been widely used to explain species distributions in island and fragmented systems. Mountain sky islands serve as critical natural laboratories for understanding the evolutionary consequences of geographic isolation and climate

准噶尔无叶豆的地理分布、群落学特征及生物生态学特性 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
准噶尔无叶豆(Eremosparton songoricum(Litv.)Vass.)是国家级保护植物。对该植物地理分布、群落特征及生物生态学特性进行的研究表明:①准噶尔无叶豆分布区和生态幅狭窄,在我国仅斑块状分布于新疆古尔班通古特沙漠腹地局部地段及沙漠东南缘的部分流动沙地上;②群落中包含植物14科33属37种,可划分为7个地理区系成分,其中,温带分布型属占75.76%。依据群落组成及外貌,划分为5个群丛,主要特点为:不表现为显著的景观植被,且小面积出现;结构简单,层次单调,植物组成均系适沙和耐沙的种类;

Weaving knowledges to support wildlife health surveillance in Kenya's pastoral rangelands

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract In wildlife–livestock–human interfaces, pathogens capable of spreading between wild and domestic animals and humans have important implications for conservation outcomes, economics, and public health. Robust wildlife health surveillance can help address these risks.

SWEET1‐mediated glucose transport is crucial for energy availability in Arabidopsis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 4, Page 1816-1830, February 2026.
Summary The stress‐responsive hormone abscisic acid (ABA) is known for its inhibitory effects on various physiological processes, including seed germination, often resulting in energy deprivation. Interestingly, ABA‐induced germination inhibition can be alleviated by exogenous glucose (Glc), mimicking a functional interplay between ABA and sugar ...

No more fashion victim? Spillovers across multiple streams: The case of fur farming bans during the COVID‐19 pandemic

open access: yesPolicy Studies Journal, Volume 54, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Though spillovers have been initially described in the Multiple Streams Framework (MSF), we know little about how to conceptualize and measure them. To investigate spillovers, we draw on the case of fur farming bans during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Whereas fur farming has long been criticized for its animal welfare problems, with the onset of the
