Highlights This is the first multicenter, cross‐sectional study on the prevalence of vitamin B12 deficiency in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) receiving metformin treatment. About one out of five patients with T2DM receiving ≥1500 mg/day metformin could develop vitamin B12 deficiency.

Highlights Increased glutamate is associated with the development of diabetes. Glutamate increases plasminogen (PLG) levels through glutamate metabotropic receptor 5 activation with various insulin resistance‐related stresses. Glutamate inhibits the conversion of PLG to plasmin by increasing plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1.

Highlights Transcutaneous oxygen pressure (TcPO2) could be used to assess microcirculation, which revealed endothelial injury. As endothelial injury is a cause of albuminuria in diabetic kidney disease (DKD), albuminuria and creatinine (ACR) might be employed to assess microcirculation in DKD patients in rural hospital where TcPO2 is not available. Our

HighlightsAutophagy is closely related to retinal neurovascular units in diabetes retinopathy. Different cells participate in the occurrence and development of diseases through autophagy, and targeted autophagy may be a new direction of treatment in the future. Emphasized the close relationship between diabetic retinopathy (DR) and autophagy Summarized

Abstract The 2014 Hazelwood coal mine fire in the Latrobe Valley, Australia, distributed toxic smoke into surrounding communities over 45 days. This study investigated risk and protective factors associated with four trajectories of posttraumatic distress (resilient, recovery, delayed‐onset, chronic) among exposed adults.

The association between childhood maltreatment and suicidal intrusions: A cross‐sectional study
Abstract Childhood maltreatment may play an important role in the transition from suicidal ideation to suicidal behavior. Abstract Objective A trial comparing prenatal with postnatal open spina bifida (OSB) repair established that prenatal surgery was associated with better postnatal outcome. However, in the trial, fetal surgery was carried out through hysterotomy. Minimally invasive approaches are being developed to mitigate the risks of open maternal–fetal surgery.

Highlights A machine learning model can significantly predict imminent development of islet autoimmunity based on environmental, genetic, and metabolic features. The machine learning algorithm feature selection identified type 1 diabetes‐associated single nucleotide polymorphisms from The Environmental Determinants of the Diabetes in the Young (TEDDY ...
