Opportunities and challenges for Common Agricultural Policy reform to support the European Green Deal

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 37, Issue 3, June 2023., 2023
Abstract The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is the European Union's main instrument for agricultural planning, with a new reform approved for 2023–2027. The CAP intends to align with the European Green Deal (EGD), a set of policy initiatives underpinning sustainable development and climate neutrality in the European Union (EU), but several flaws cast

The uses and implications of avian vocalizations for conservation planning

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 35, Issue 1, Page 50-63, February 2021., 2021
Abstract There is a growing recognition that animal behavior can affect wildlife conservation, but there have been few direct studies of animal behavior in conservation programs. However, a great deal of existing behavioral research can be applied in the context of conservation. Research on avian vocalizations provides an excellent example.

Climate suitability as a predictor of conservation translocation failure

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 34, Issue 6, Page 1473-1481, December 2020., 2020
Abstract The continuing decline and loss of biodiversity has caused an increase in the use of interventionist conservation tools, such as translocation. However, many translocation attempts fail to establish viable populations, with poor release site selection often flagged as an inhibitor of success.

Drivers of bat researchers’ intent to adopt field hygiene practices

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Infectious disease is a growing threat to wildlife, with zoonotic transmission most likely at the human–wildlife interface. One underappreciated activity at this interface is fieldwork with wild animals, but associated risks can be mitigated through field hygiene (FH) practices, such as using personal protective equipment and other appropriate

Prospects for conserving freshwater fish biodiversity in the Anthropocene: A view from Southern China 人类世下淡水鱼类生物多样性保护的前景:以中国南方为视角

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, Volume 3, Issue 4, Page 294-311, December 2024.
Freshwater biodiversity in China is threatened by multiple anthropogenic factors, and while there are some reasons to suppose it may be possible to bend the curve of biodiversity loss, the variety of threats and their likely interactions with ongoing climate change provide little basis for optimism. For example, the historic overexploitation of Yangtze

Treating the symptoms or the disease? Analysing the UK Online Safety Act's approach to digital regulation

open access: yesPolicy &Internet, Volume 16, Issue 4, Page 818-832, December 2024.
Abstract In recent years, the pace of Internet regulation around the world has quickened, with states increasingly confident that they can and should hold major platform companies to account. New laws have been developed to address the risks of digital technologies and law‐makers have drawn on familiar regulatory principles and legacy frameworks in ...

Social participation challenges and response strategies identified by adults aging with a disability

open access: yesJournal of Elder Policy, Volume 3, Issue 2, Page 95-109, October 2024.
Abstract Social participation is likely to decrease among older adults as disability levels increase. However, it is a modifiable determinant of health that can impact older adults' well‐being and quality of life. Thus, this secondary data analysis aimed to understand what challenges older adults aging with a mobility or vision disability face with ...

Counter‐terrorism and humanitarian action: UK INGO responses since 2015

open access: yesDisasters, Volume 48, Issue 2, April 2024.
There has been growing awareness in recent years of the wide‐ranging negative impacts that counter‐terrorism measures and sanctions impose on humanitarian action. Drawing on semi‐structured interviews with the staff of international non‐governmental organisations (INGOs), this paper examines these impacts on INGOs based in the United Kingdom. This is a

关于接地降阻材料的应用研究

open access: yesDianci bileiqi, 2005

open access: yesGaoya dianqi, 2013
