Public attitudes and intentions toward engaging in reintroduction of wolves to Japan
Abstract Reintroducing apex predators is an important approach in ecosystem restoration; however, it is challenging. Wolves (Canis lupus) were exterminated in Japan around 1900, and since then, there has been a lack of top predators throughout the country.

Conserving the evolutionary history of birds
Abstract In the midst of the sixth mass extinction, limited resources are forcing conservationists to prioritize which species and places will receive conservation action. Evolutionary distinctiveness measures the isolation of a species on its phylogenetic tree.

Acute phase protein concentrations following serial procaine penicillin G injections in horses
Abstract Background Acute phase protein (APP) measurement is used to detect inflammation. Intramuscular (IM) injections could cause tissue injury and induce an acute phase response (APR). Objectives To evaluate the effects of IM procaine penicillin G (PPG) injections on APP concentrations in horses.

Highlights High stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) was associated with elevated systematic inflammation in diabetic inpatients with pneumonia on admission. In the absence of hypoglycemia on admission, SHR was of J‐shaped associations with adverse clinical outcomes in diabetic inpatients with pneumonia of different severity.

Highlights Evidence for contribution of basal and postprandial glucose increments and glycemic variability to glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) among adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) is limited. In this study, after analyzing a total of 169 550 sensor‐derived data in 2409 meals recorded from 102 T1D adults, we found that basal hyperglycemia (BHG) was four ...

Abstract For parents of color, publicized racial violence can heighten concerns about their children's safety. The goal of this study was to test whether this form of race‐related stress exacerbates maternal posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms over a 4‐month period in families of color. Participants included 262 U.S.

Non- linear analysis on the performance of buckling restrained brace concrete school building [PDF]
Taking an actual school building's seismic design as an example,The purpose of the study is the analysis of buckling- restrained brace ...

Biodiversity‐driven spatial conservation planning to delineate temporally stable regions
Abstract The accelerating loss of biodiversity underscores the critical need for effective conservation strategies, particularly in the face of climate change and anthropogenic pressures. We devised a conservation planning framework that adopts a temporal stacking approach to species distribution models and landscape connectivity analyses. These models
