Imbrication fabric as a diagnostic feature for the genetic classification of gravels deposited by fluid‐gravity versus sediment‐gravity subaerial flows

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 49, Issue 13, Page 4088-4098, October 2024.
Genetic classification of gravels accumulated by different subaerial flow types is problematic or ambiguous. The change in imbrication fabrics from fluid‐gravity to sediment‐gravity flow deposits offers quantifiable evidence to distinguishing genetic processes that contribute to the accumulation of gravels in high‐energy and dynamic environments ...

On‐Farm Management of Vitellaria paradoxa C. F. Gaertn. in Amuria District, Eastern Uganda

open access: yesInternational Journal of Forestry Research, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
The population of shea butter tree (Vitellaria paradoxa C. F. Gaertn.)—a priority tree with enormous economic and cultural values to the parkland communities in Uganda, is rapidly declining due to rapid human population growth, increasing land fragmentation, and high demand for woodfuel especially charcoal. Reversing this trend will depend on the rural

Current fluctuations in boundary driven diffusive systems in different dimensions: a numerical study

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
We use kinetic Monte Carlo simulations to investigate current fluctuations in boundary driven generalized exclusion processes, in different dimensions.

Enhancement of yogurt functionality by adding Mentha piprita phenolic extract and evaluation of its quality during cold storage

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 3007-3020, April 2024.
The phenolic profile and antioxidant activities of Mentha piperita hydroethanol extract, as well as its influence on the acidity, pH, antioxidant activity, and lipid profile of a steamed yogurt stored for 20 days at 4°C, were studied. The extract studied is rich in phenolic acids, particularly rosmarinic acid, and has a high antioxidant potential.

A Novel Dietary Supplement Containing Multiple Phytochemicals and Vitamins Elevates Hepatorenal and Cardiac Antioxidant Enzymes in the Absence of Significant Serum Chemistry and Genomic Changes

open access: yesOxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, Volume 3, Issue 2, Page 129-144, 2010., 2010
A novel dietary supplement composed of three well‐known phytochemicals, namely, Salvia officinalis (sage) extract, Camellia sinensis (oolong tea) extract, and Paullinia cupana (guarana) extract, and two prominent vitamins (thiamine and niacin) was designed to provide nutritional support by enhancing metabolism and maintaining healthy weight and energy.

Generalized Lomb-Scargle analysis of $\rm{^{90}Sr/^{90}Y}$ decay rate measurements from the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt

open access: yes, 2018
We apply the generalized Lomb-Scargle (LS) periodogram to independently confirm the claim by Sturrock et al (arXiv:1605.03088) of oscillation at a frequency of 11/year in the decay rates of $\rm{^{90}Sr/^{90}Y}$ from measurements at the Physikalisch ...

Spatiotemporal complexity of the universe at subhorizon scales

open access: yes, 1997
This is a short note on the spatiotemporal complexity of the dynamical state(s) of the universe at subhorizon scales (up to 300 Mpc). There are reasons, based mainly on infrared radiative divergences, to believe that one can encounter a flicker noise in ...

Including gaussian uncertainty on the background estimate for upper limit calculations using Poissonian sampling

open access: yes, 2003
A procedure to include the uncertainty on the background estimate for upper limit calculations using Poissonian sampling is presented for the case where a Gaussian assumption on the uncertainty can be made. Under that hypothesis an analytic expression of

Shape Complexity in Turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The shape complexity of irregular surfaces is quantified by a dimensionless area-volume measure. A joint distribution of shape complexity and size is found for level-set islands and lakes in two-dimensional slices of the scalar field of liquid-phase ...
