Packing, alignment and flow of shape-anisotropic grains in a 3D silo experiment
Granular material flowing through bottlenecks, like the openings of silos, tend to clog and thus inhibit further flow. We study this phenomenon in a three-dimensional hopper for spherical and shape-anisotropic particles by means of x-ray tomography.

Stabilized wave segments in an excitable medium with a phase wave at the wave back
The propagation velocity and the shape of a stationary propagating wave segment are determined analytically for excitable media supporting excitation waves with trigger fronts and phase backs.

Effect of Chemical Enhancers in Transdermal Permeation of Alfuzosin Hydrochloride
The objective of the present study is to explore the efficient chemical penetration enhancer among the various enhancers available in overcoming the stratum corneum barrier in transdermal delivery of Alfuzosin hydrochloride (AH). The different enhancers were incorporated in 2% Carbopol gel which was selected as a control and evaluated by in vitro ...

Stationary propagation of a wave segment along an inhomogeneous excitable stripe
We report a numerical and theoretical study of an excitation wave propagating along an inhomogeneous stripe of an excitable medium. The stripe inhomogeneity is due to a jump of the propagation velocity in the direction transverse to the wave motion ...

The geometric, electronic structure, effect of the substitution, and structure physical‐chemistry relationship for oxazoles derivatives have been studied by ab initio and DFT theory. In the present work, the calculated values, namely, net charges, bond lengths, dipole moments, electron affinities, heats of formation, and QSAR properties are reported ...

Nucleation of reaction-diffusion waves on curved surfaces
We study reaction-diffusion waves on curved two-dimensional surfaces, and determine the influence of curvature upon the nucleation and propagation of spatially localized waves in an excitable medium modelled by the generic FitzHugh–Nagumo model.

Self-similar motion for modeling anomalous diffusion and nonextensive statistical distributions [PDF]
We introduce a new universality class of one-dimensional iteration model giving rise to self-similar motion, in which the Feigenbaum constants are generalized as self-similar rates and can be predetermined.

A Growth Model for Multicellular Tumor Spheroids [PDF]
Most organisms grow according to simple laws, which in principle can be derived from energy conservation and scaling arguments, critically dependent on the relation between the metabolic rate B of energy flow and the organism mass m.

Simulating Male Selfish Strategy in Reproduction Dispute
We introduce into the Penna Model for biological ageing one of the possible male mechanisms used to maximize the ability of their sperm to compete with sperm from other males.

Network properties of protein structures [PDF]
Protein structures can be studied as complex networks of interacting amino acids. We study proteins of different structural classes from the network perspective.
