Efficient Cu-catalyzed base-free C–S coupling under conventional and microwave heating. A simple access to S-heterocycles and sulfides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
S-aryl thioacetates can be prepared by reaction of inexpensive potassium thioacetate with both electron-rich and electron-poor aryl iodides under a base-free copper/ligand catalytic system.

Tuning the Photochemistry of Entatic State Model Systems

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
We present the photochemistry of the entatic state model [Cu(DMEGqu)2]+/2+, a copper guanidino‐quinoline complex pair. By transient IR and UV/Vis spectroscopy, we obtained the lifetimes of the different excited states. We show that the structural effect of the guanidine tunes the photochemistry of this entatic state model.

Study of molecular spin-crossover complex Fe(phen)2(NCS)2 thin films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We report on the growth by evaporation under high vacuum of high-quality thin films of Fe(phen)2(NCS)2 (phen=1,10-phenanthroline) that maintain the expected electronic structure down to a thickness of 10 nm and that exhibit a temperature-driven spin ...

Preliminary Evaluation of In Situ Chemical Oxidation Effects on Soil Carbon Dioxide Emission in a Soil Slurry System

open access: yesRemediation Journal, Volume 36, Issue 2, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT In situ chemical oxidation (ISCO), a remediation technology for soil and groundwater contamination, utilizes oxidants that can impact the soil environment and indirectly influence soil CO2 emissions. Understanding these emissions may support more sustainable ISCO applications by enabling adjustments to treatment conditions that limit ...

Postbiotic Supernatants From Psychobiotic Strains Modulate Antioxidant and Serotonergic Responses

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
Cell‐free postbiotic supernatants obtained from psychobiotic strains exhibit strain‐dependent antioxidant and serotonergic effects. SCFA‐rich metabolites enhance antioxidant protection and modulate serotonin release in enterochromaffin cells, supporting their potential as functional ingredients for gut and brain health.

Photoreductive Dissolution of Iron Oxides Trapped in Ice and Its Environmental Implications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The availability of iron has been thought to be a main limiting factor for the productivity of phytoplankton and related with the uptake of atmospheric CO_2 and algal blooms in fresh and sea waters. In this work, the formation of bioavailable iron (Fe(II)
