Ce promoted Cu/γ-Al2O3 catalysts for the enhanced selectivity of 1,2-propanediol from catalytic hydrogenolysis of glucose

open access: yesCatalysis Communications, 2022
Ce promoted Cu/γ-Al2O3 catalysts were prepared with varying amounts of Cu (x = 0–10 wt%) and Ce (y = 0–15 wt%). The prepared catalysts were characterized and tested for the conversion of aqueous glucose (5 wt%) to 1,2-propanediol in a batch reactor.

1,2—Propanediol Production from Glycerol Derived from Biodiesel’s Production: Technical and Economic Study

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
For every nine tons of produced biodiesel, there is another ton of glycerol as a byproduct. Therefore, glycerol prices dropped significantly worldwide in recent years; the more significant biodiesel production is, the more glycerol exists as a byproduct.

Microbial production and applications of 1,2-propanediol [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Journal of Microbiology, 2010
1,2-Propanediol (propylene glycol) is an existing commodity chemical and can be produced from renewable resources using microbes. By virtue of being a natural product, relevant biochemical pathways can be harnessed into fermentation processes to produce 1,2-propanediol. In the present review, the chemical process and different biological strategies for
