Straight-line drawings of 1-planar graphs

open access: yesComputational Geometry
A graph is 1-planar if it can be drawn in the plane so that each edge is crossed at most once. However, there are 1-planar graphs which do not admit a straight-line 1-planar drawing. We show that every 1-planar graph has a straight-line drawing with a two-coloring of the edges, so that edges of the same color do not cross.

Magneto‐Ionic Devices With Polymer‐Based Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymer electrolytes are introduced for magneto‐ionic devices based on hydroxide and hydrogen ions. The magneto‐ionic effect results in a pronounced voltage‐controlled variation of coercivity in both devices. The switching speed is in the range of 100 ms.

Computational Complexity of Graph Planarity Testing

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we will show that the problem of planarity testing is in SL (symmetric nondeterministic LOGSPACE). The main part of our proof is a reduction of the problem to planarity of graphs with maximal degree three. Note that usual replacing vertices

Intracrystalline Void‐Mediated Toughening of Brittle Crystals in Quail Eggshells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In quail eggshells, the high density and disordered arrangement of intracrystalline voids inhibit lattice cleavage, suppress long‐range crack propagation, and promote deformation twinning and quasi‐plasticity, serving as an essential toughening motif. We show that these voids remain within a narrow subcritical size range and therefore predominantly do ...

Self‐Powered, Ultra‐Sensitive InGaAs/ITO Nanowire Radial Junction Infrared Photodiode for Low Flux Imaging at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports a self‐powered InGaAs nanowire photodetector achieving single‐photon‐level sensitivity in the shortwave infrared at non‐cryogenic temperatures. The device demonstrates high‐speed imaging capabilities even under extremely low‐flux conditions.

GeS as an Emerging OTS Material: Atomic Structure and Modeling of ON/OFF Switching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The structural puzzle of glassy GeS, an advanced memory‐selector material, has finally been disentangled, revealing a patchwork of mixed tetrahedral and trigonal species. Under a high electric field, over‐ and under‐coordinated Ge and S defects, together with three‐membered rings, form an interconnected network associated with localized and extended ...

Configuration‐Encoded Cell Alignment by Light‐Gated Silicon Photovoltaic Microcell Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light‐gated silicon photovoltaic microcells convert pulsed illumination into localized electrical cues. Arranging otherwise similar microcells into four‐lobed, six‐lobed, or circular patterns directs fibroblasts into corresponding local arrangements without wired stimulation.
