Distribution of 137Cs Radionuclide in Industrial Wastes Effluents of Gresik, East Java, Indonesia
The distribution of anthropogenic radionuclides 137Cs was measured from industrial waste effluent of Gresik to Gresik Sea in east Java, Indonesia. The activity of 37Cs detected at all stations was much lower than in northeast Japan both before and after ...

Radiocaesium in the fungal compartment of forest ecosystems [PDF]
Fungi in forest ecosystems are major contributors to accumulation and cycling of radionuclides, especially radiocaesium. However, relatively little is known about uptake and retention of 137Cs by fungal mycelia.

This study reveals unprecedented burning in tropical peatlands during the 20th century, mainly expressed in the Indomalayan and Australasian regions, emphasising regional variability in peatland burning and its links to modern human activities. Before this period, tropical peatland burning largely followed changes in global temperature and was ...

Suitability of high-pressure xenon as scintillator for gamma ray spectroscopy
In this paper we report the experimental study of high-pressure xenon used as a scintillator, in the context of developing a gamma ray detector. We measure a light yield near 2 photoelectrons per keV for xenon at 40 bar. Together with the light yield, we

Abstract INTRODUCTION Enlargement of the choroidal–ventricular system occurs in aging and Alzheimer's disease (AD), but emerging evidence links these abnormalities to amyloid beta (Aβ) aggregation. We tested this hypothesis by assessing associations between AD pathophysiology and choroidal–ventricular system measures across the AD continuum.

Exopolymeric substances (EPS) produced in the photic zone and surface sediments sequester calcium. Below the sediment surface, heterotrophic bacteria degrade EPS, releasing calcium resulting in carbonate precipitation. This process, which continues for millennia deep in the core, is an important sink for atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Comparison of data on Mutation Frequencies of Mice Caused by Radiation - Low Dose Model -
We propose LD(Low Dose) model, the extension of LDM model which was proposed in the previous paper [Y. Manabe et al.: J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 81 (2012) 104004] to estimate biological damage caused by irradiation. LD model takes account of all the considerable
