Role of dynamic Jahn-Teller distortions in Na2C60 and Na2CsC60 studied by NMR [PDF]
Through 13C NMR spin lattice relaxation (T1) measurements in cubic Na2C60, we detect a gap in its electronic excitations, similar to that observed in tetragonal A4C60. This establishes that Jahn-Teller distortions (JTD) and strong electronic correlations

The s-process in stellar population synthesis: a new approach to understanding AGB stars [PDF]
Thermally pulsating asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars are the main producers of slow neutron capture (s-) process elements, but there are still large uncertainties associated with the formation of the main neutron source, 13C, and with the physics of ...

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Bacterial and Archaeal Specific-Predation in the North Atlantic Basin
Stable isotope probing (SIP) was used to track prokaryotic and eukaryotic carbon uptake along a meridional transect (Long. 52°W) in the North Atlantic to assess if 13C-resource partitioning between bacteria and archaea and 13C-labeled eukaryotic ...

The necessity and appropriate range of the diagnostic “gray zone” of 13C-urea breath test
Background: The 13C-urea breath test (13C-UBT) is preferred for non-invasive detection of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori); however, its accuracy drops when results fall between 2‰ and 6‰ (called the gray zone).

Mapping Observations of DNC and HN^13C in Dark Cloud Cores
We present results of mapping observations of the DNC, HN^13C, and H^13CO^+ lines (J=1-0) toward 4 nearby dark cloud cores, TMC-1, L1512, L1544, and L63, along with observations of the DNC and HN^13C lines (J=2-1) toward selected positions.

Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

Synthesis of Gemcitabine-13C, 15N2 and Gemcitabine-13C, 15N2 Metabolites
Homemade urea-13C, 15N2 was used to react with 3-methyl acrylonitrile closure to form cytosine-13C, 15N2 (2),which was protected by trimethylsilylation with BSA and condensed with 2-deoxy-2,2-difluoro-D-erythro-pentofuranose-3,5-dibenzoate-1 ...
