The tomb of Neferhotep, if datable to the mid 13th dynasty, with its rishi coffin, could represent the missing link between the previous fashion of rectangular coffins still used by kings and by the upper class of the late 13th dynasty and the sudden appearance of a new anthropoid rishi coffin in the 17th dynasty.
