Stress‐to‐Light Conversion in an Earth‐Abundant Oxide Semiconductor
Stress‐to‐light conversion in solids represents a unique photonic functionality, yet it has never been realized in a chemically simple and sustainable material. Here, we show that sustainable semiconductor ZnO exhibits strong near‐infrared (NIR) luminescence under elastic stress when defect‐engineered to stabilize the p‐type state.

Identifying rotation in SASI-dominated core-collapse supernovae with a neutrino gyroscope
Measuring the rotation of core-collapse supernovae (SN) and of their progenitor stars is extremely challenging. Here it is demonstrated that neutrinos may potentially be employed as stellar gyroscopes, if phases of activity by the standing accretion ...

Presupernova collapse models with improved weak-interaction rates [PDF]
Improved values for stellar weak interaction rates have been recently calculated based upon a large shell model diagonalization. Using these new rates (for both beta decay and electron capture), we have examined the presupernova evolution of massive ...

Emerging Trends in Organic Photoreactions Utilizing Disulfides
Disulfides are versatile, nontoxic alternatives to metal photocatalysts. This review explores their role as photoactivated thiyl‐radical precursors and bifunctional catalysts (HAT/electron shuttling) in diverse transformations. Strategies for electronic tuning and development into recyclable heterogeneous materials are highlighted for sustainable ...

In this paper, we investigate the link between the hypervelocity stars (HVSs) discovered in the Galactic halo and the S-stars moving in the Galactic center (GC), under the hypothesis that they are both the products of the tidal breakup of the same ...

Presupernova Evolution of Rotating Massive Stars and the Rotation Rate of Pulsars [PDF]
Rotation in massive stars has been studied on the main sequence and during helium burning for decades, but only recently have realistic numerical simulations followed the transport of angular momentum that occurs during more advanced stages of evolution.
