Comparison of nitrogen uptake in the roots and rhizomes of Leymus chinensis

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2018
Leymus chinensis (Trin.) Tzvel is a rhizomatous grass species in the Eastern Eurasian steppe zone that is often limited by low soil nitrogen availability. Although a previous study showed that the rhizomes of L.

Oxygen‐Vacancy‐Engineered Ru–V Dual Sites in InVO4 for Synergistic Photocatalytic N2 Activation and Reactive Hydrogen Supply

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
This study developed a catalyst composed of Ru nanoparticles directionally anchored at the oxygen vacancies of indium vanadate. Oxygen vacancy not only forms unsaturated V sites but also serves as an anchoring site for Ru nanoparticles, establishing a stable Ru‐V coordination structure through electronic metal–support interactions.

Multidimensional Engineering Enabling Rate‐Matched C−N Coupling for Efficient Organonitrogen Electrosynthesis

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
This review introduces rate matching as a unifying design principle for efficient electrochemical C−N coupling and highlights multidimensional engineering of catalysts, interfaces, and reactors to synchronize the generation of carbon‐ and nitrogen‐containing intermediates, balance their surface coverages, maximize C−N bond formation, and enable ...

Dietary partitioning mediates species coexistence in the high seas area of northwest Pacific

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Niche partitioning, manifesting along various axes of the ecological niche, is a fundamental mechanism mediating species coexistence in a system. However, the emergence of many species in marine ecosystems would face considerable constraints in achieving coexistence through spatiotemporal differentiation mechanisms under the framework of niche ...

Bioinspired Copper Sites for the Transformations of Greenhouse Gases Like Methane and Nitrous Oxide

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Chemical Society, EarlyView.
This review highlights the bioinspired catalytic systems containing copper sites that facilitate the conversions of methane and nitrous oxide to methanol and nitrogen, respectively. ABSTRACT The quest for benign catalysts for environmental remediation under ambient conditions for a sustainable future is fueling contemporary research.

Microbial C/N metabolic capabilities contribute to the fate of crop residue N in plant-soil-microbe continuum over multiple seasons

open access: yesiScience
Summary: The mineralization of crop residue-nitrogen (N) is important for sustainable N supply to subsequent crops. However, the microbial mechanisms regarding residue-N mineralization over growth seasons are still unclear.

Nuclear‐Spin Hyperpolarization of Biomolecules by Optically Enhanced NMR at Ultra‐High Field

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Chemical Society, EarlyView.
This study shows that the sensitivity of liquid‐state NMR spectroscopy can be dramatically increased, with enhancement factors up to 160‐fold on a 1.1 GHz ultra‐high‐field NMR spectrometer. This advance exploits low‐concentration photochemically induced dynamic nuclear polarization (LC‐photo‐CIDNP) and it enables facile atomic‐resolution detection of ...

Optimising Sulphur Fertilisation in Ryegrass–White Clover Swards Reduces Leached Nitrate Nitrogen Losses, While Increasing Plant Yield and Nitrogen Off‐Take

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
The inclusion of sulphur at two inorganic nitrogen rates (0 and 150 kg N ha−1) improves plant productivity in a ryegrass–white clover sward and reduces nitrate‐N loss to groundwater in a free‐draining sandy loam soil. ABSTRACT Background Reducing nitrogen (N) losses to water, lessening reliance on inorganic fertiliser and maintaining agricultural ...

Intra‐Plant Nitrogen Isotope Fractionation in Maize

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and aim The natural abundance of nitrogen isotopes (δ15N) provides a powerful integrative tracer of nitrogen uptake and assimilation in plants, yet the internal partitioning of δ15N among plant tissues remains insufficiently understood.
