Bacterial Contamination in Total Joint Replacement: Should We Change into a New Set of Clean Scrub Suits Whenever Entering the Operating Room?

open access: yesLife, 2023
Background: The aims of this study are as follows: (1) to investigate the level and probability of bacterial contamination on scrub suits over time for medical personnel working inside and/or outside the operating room (OR) area; (2) to discuss the ...

Implications of the Onset of Sweating on the Sweat Lactate Threshold

open access: yesSensors, 2023
The relationship between the onset of sweating (OS) and sweat lactate threshold (sLT) assessed using a novel sweat lactate sensor remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the implications of the OS on the sLT.

Usefulness of Modified CEUS LI-RADS for the Diagnosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Using Sonazoid

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2020
The Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (CEUS LI-RADS) was introduced for classifying suspected hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, it cannot be applied to Sonazoid.

Purification of cardiomyocytes and neurons derived from human pluripotent stem cells by inhibition of de novo fatty acid synthesis

open access: yesSTAR Protocols, 2022
Summary: Here we describe a protocol to obtain highly pure cardiomyocytes and neurons from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) via metabolic selection processes.

Study of the efficacy of Galactin Vet Bolus on milk yield in dairy cows  [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary World, 2009
Efficacy study of GALACTIN VET bolus (5 boli once daily for 10 days) was conducted in moderate milk producing Holstein and Jersey crossbred cows. Improved Milk yield, CLR, Fat % and SNF % supported GALACTIN VET bolus to be safe galactogogue in dairy cows.

Genotype-phenotype mapping of a patient-derived lung cancer organoid biobank identifies NKX2-1-defined Wnt dependency in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesCell Reports, 2023
Summary: Human lung cancer is a constellation of tumors with various histological and molecular properties. To build a preclinical platform that covers this broad disease spectrum, we obtained lung cancer specimens from multiple sources, including sputum

Clinical and Imaging Characteristics of Non-Neoplastic Spinal Lesions: A Comparative Study with Intramedullary Tumors

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2022
The features of non-neoplastic lesions are often similar to those of intramedullary tumors, and a differential diagnosis is challenging to obtain in some cases.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
