Internal Mass-Induced Elastic Deformation: A Semi-Analytic Approach

This research presents an innovative semi-analytical method to study the deformation of a viscoelastic, spherical, layered Earth model under periodic loading. We explore the effects of surface mass changes on deformation over various timescales, including annual and interannual, using a linear rheology profile.

Datacubes as enablers for land take quantification in LandSupport Regions

Land take, a significant driver of land degradation, poses challenges for sustainable land management, particularly in regions under high anthropogenic pressure. Addressing these challenges necessitates robust, data-driven approaches to monitor, quantify, and mitigate land take.

Ocean turbulence observations from autonomous profiling floats

Turbulent mixing is the dominant driver in the exchange of oceanic properties across vertical layers and lateral fronts. It shapes the ocean’s stratification dynamics that regulate deep convective processes and water mass exchanges. It also plays an important role in the rate of atmosphere-ocean interactions, and thus is a key factor in our ...

Mixing of tracers in stratified sheared flows

Understanding small-scale turbulent mixing in the ocean is fundamental for accurately modeling oceanic processes, predicting currents, and managing marine ecosystems. Global and regional ocean models rely on parameterizing turbulent mixing, yet this remains a significant source of uncertainty due to technical constraints and model-specific empirical ...
