Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part L: Journal of Materials: Design and Applications, 2022
17-4 Precipitation-hardened steel has attracted worldwide attention due to its applications. In the manufacture of 17-4 PH SS using SLM, several parameters play an important role. In the present study, the hexagonal island sizes were varied as 1.25-2.5-3.75-5-6.75-7.5-8.75-10 mm to understand the microstructure, microhardness, residual stresses, and ...

Parametric optimisation of friction welded 17-4 PH SS alloy using Taguchi techniques
Progress in Industrial Ecology, An International Journal, 2018Friction welding (FW) is a solid state technique used mostly for joining similar or dissimilar materials owing to batch production with less time consumption. In friction welding, the joints are formed in the solid state by utilising the heat generated by friction.

Wear behavior of laser metal deposited 17‐4 PH SS‐W composite at varied tungsten powder flow rate
Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik, 2020AbstractThis research studies the wear behavior of laser metal deposition of 17‐4 PH SS‐W composite using a 6 mm alumina‐stainless steel ball under a load of 10 N, for 16 minutes, 40 seconds and with acquisition rate of 100 Hz conducted at 25 °C. The effect of laser power of between 2600 W and 1500 W; and powder flow rate of between 0.5 min−1 and 2.0 ...

Metallurgical Characteristics of Laser Peened 17-4 PH SS Processed by LENS Technique
2019This study investigated the effect of laser peening on the surface integrity (surface roughness, microstructure and microhardness) of 17-4 PH stainless steel components which were built through the direct energy deposition (DED). Additive manufacturing (AM) technique was performed on laser engineered net shaping (LENS) system.

Tribological Testing of Electrolyzed 17-4 PH Steel Against SS 440C Under Water Lubricated Condition
2013Tribological performances of electrolyzed 17-4 PH steel (using HEEF-25 Salt) were evaluated under water lubricated environment. Tests were carried out on Plint TE 70SLIM reciprocating sliding wear and friction machine. Test conditions were 3–11 N load and 5–15 Hz sliding frequency and counterface material was a ball of SS 440C.

Generally, metal injection molding (MIM) method utilizes SS 17-4 PH as material for application of orthodontic bracket. One of the process of MIM is thermal debinding, which binder is eliminated by thermal energy. In this study, thermal debinding process is conducted with variation of temperature, i.e. 480, 510, and 540°C, holding time, i.e. 0.5, 1 and
