The heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HAT) of the SLC7/SLC3 family: A structure−function relationships and relevance to human pathology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

Research on the evolution of corrosion products of 17-4 PH martensitic stainless steel in the tropical marine environment

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Deterioration of stainless steel is significantly influenced by the characteristics of corrosion products. Evolution of corrosion products of 17-4 PH martensitic stainless steel (17-4 PH MSS) in the tropical marine environment was systematically studied ...

Leucine‐rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) is a ganglioside‐binding protein

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neuronal hyperexcitability associated with a decrease/absence of the extracellular protein LGI1 has been suggested to be primarily due to the downregulation of Kv1 channel expression. The molecular mechanisms underlying this decrease have not yet been elucidated.

Low strain hardening enables improved water droplet erosion performance through deep rolling

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The present work investigates the role of deep rolling surface treatment on the water droplet erosion behavior of 17–4 PH stainless steel. Standard heat treatments were first applied to samples of 17–4 PH stainless steel to achieve three states, solution

Neutralization of the PTX3/CD44 axis suppresses TGF‐β1 signaling in kidney fibrosis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the PTX3/CD44 axis promotes kidney fibrosis by activating TGF‐β1 signaling. We demonstrate that the neutralizing antibody WHC‐001 effectively inhibits this pathway, suppressing myofibroblast activation and partial epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT).

The VHL tumor suppressor at the crossroad of protein folding, aggregation, and cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Mutations, environmental stress, and chaperone dysfunction can destabilize pVHL, promoting its conversion from the native folded state into amyloid‐like assemblies. This transition may contribute to protein storage, cell dormancy, survival, and drug resistance.

Residual stress measurements via neutron diffraction of additive manufactured stainless steel 17-4 PH

open access: yesData in Brief, 2017
Neutron diffraction was employed to measure internal residual stresses at various locations along stainless steel (SS) 17-4 PH specimens additively manufactured via laser-powder bed fusion (L-PBF). Of these specimens, two were rods (diameter=8 mm, length=

Normalizing Effect of Heat Treatment Processing on 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Manufactured by Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF)-processed 17-4 PH stainless steel (SS) generally exhibits a non-equilibrium microstructure consisting mostly of columnar δ-ferrite grains and a substantial fraction of retained austenite and martensite, contrary to 17-4 PH

Attitudes of cancer patients toward ctDNA‐based liquid biopsy for follow‐up

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This mixed‐methods study explored cancer patients' experiences, knowledge, and preferences regarding ctDNA‐based liquid biopsy for follow‐up. Awareness of ctDNA was low and recall of previous liquid biopsy was imperfect, yet acceptance was high.
