Mechanical Properties of 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Manufactured by Atomic Diffusion Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesDesigns
Atomic diffusion additive manufacturing (ADAM) is a specialized extrusion-based metal additive manufacturing (MAM) process where metal parts are produced through a three-stage process of printing, de-binding and sintering.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Evaluation of thermal ageing conditions in 17-4 PH stainless steel by Fourier descriptor analysis of magnetic hysteresis loops

open access: yes, 1996
Fourier descriptor analysis of magnetic hysteresis loops has been used to assess the conditions of isothermal and isochronal ageing in quench-aged precipitation hardening 17-4 PH stainless steel. The Fourier descriptors (i.e.

Data demonstrating the effects of build orientation and heat treatment on fatigue behavior of selective laser melted 17–4 PH stainless steel

open access: yesData in Brief, 2016
Axial fully-reversed strain-controlled (R=−1) fatigue experiments were performed to obtain data demonstrating the effects of building orientation (i.e. vertical versus horizontal) and heat treatment on the fatigue behavior of 17–4 PH stainless steel (SS)

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

Improvement on Some Properties of 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Powder.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy, 1995
A comparative study was made on press/sintering behavior of water-atomized 17-4PH stainless steel alloyed and partially mixed powders and properties of the sintered materials. The results were summarized as follows:(1) Mixedα/γ-phase powder has higher compressibility than alloyed one by-8% in the state of rapid-quench atomization, as expected from ...

A comparative study of microstructure and hydrogen embrittlement of selective laser melted and wrought 17–4 PH stainless steel

open access: yes, 2020
International audienceIn this study, the microstructure and hydrogen embrittlement of 17–4 PH stainless steel produced by Selective Laser Melting (SLM) were investigated. The microstructure of SLM-ed 17–4 PH stainless steel was found to be fully ferritic,

Influence of Scan Strategies in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion on Solidification, Microstructure, and High‐Temperature Compressive Properties of γ′‐Strengthened Inconel 738LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

Analysis of the Aging Process and Fatigue Behavior of 17-4 PH Stainless Steel

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Materials in Engineering, 2017
Age hardening processes cause a wide range of changes in 17-4 PH stainless steel properties. Aging at 480ºC for 1 hour (A480-1) and aging at 620ºC for 4 hours (A620-4) are two most applicable heat treatment processes for this alloy.

Morphology, Transport, and Dynamics of Protein Adsorption in Open‐Cell Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stainless steel (SS) open‐cell foams are shown to adsorb more protein per unit area than previously reported 316L SS and chromium oxide surfaces under static and flow conditions. An integrated approach combining 3D pore imaging, flow simulation, and protein adsorption experiments characterizes the foam’s performance.
