AUSTRAL WRIGHT 17-4PH

Alloy Digest, 2022
Abstract Austral Wright 17-4PH (UNS S17400) is a precipitation hardening stainless steel which has extremely high strength and hardness, combined with good ductility and toughness. It has excellent corrosion resistance, approaching that of type 304 austenitic stainless steel. Designers and engineers often choose Austral Wright 17-4PH for

Laser Cladding of 17-4PH Stainless Knife Edges

Volume 4: Cycle Innovations; Electric Power; Industrial and Cogeneration; Manufacturing Materials and Metallurgy, 2006
Laser cladding of 0.4 mm and 0.8 mm wide knife edges made from 17-4PH stainless steel was investigated, using two types of powder and two different post heat treatments. Acceptable cladding deposits of 0.5 to 0.9 mm height were obtained on both sizes of knife edge, and with both powder types.

Effect of 17-4PH stainless steel powders interaction on feedstocks

Powder Technology, 2020
Abstract The objective of this work is to investigate the effects of 17-4pH stainless steel powders interaction on properties of feedstocks. γ-aminopropyltriethoxy silane (KH550), γ-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propyltrimethoxy silane (KH560), propyltrimethoxy silane (N313) were used to modify 17-4pH stainless steel powders, and described as KH550-m, KH560-m ...

Microstructures, properties, and applications of laser sintered 17‐4PH stainless steel

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2019
Abstract The effects of hot isostatic pressing (HIP) on the densification, mechanical properties, and microstructures of laser‐powder bed fusion (L‐PBF) 17‐4 PH stainless steel parts were studied using gas‐ and water‐atomized powders. The % theoretical density, ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, elongation,

Localised corrosion and cathodic protection of 17 4PH propeller shafts

Corrosion Engineering, Science and Technology, 2013
Some 17 4PH propeller shafts showed severe localised corrosion after a long period of time in Ancona harbour. The shaft is concentrically mounted in an AISI 304 stern tube through two rubber bearings. Both 17 4PH and AISI 304 stainless steels were characterised by anodic polarisation in natural sea water, in order to obtain the necessary corrosion ...

Failure Analysis of a 17-4PH Stainless Steel Part in an Exhaust Fastener

Journal of Failure Analysis and Prevention, 2021
Despite high level of attention in the process of making metallic fasteners, failure of the fasteners happens in various industries. Sometimes, failures are recognized during the quality control checks in the companies. During a batch of production and during assembly test, failure of a 17-4PH stainless steel part in an exhaust fastener was seen.

Characterization of 17-4PH alloy processed by selective laser melting

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2017
Abstract Additive manufacturing (AM) has revolutionized the way that engineering products are created through a simple concept of layer by layer addition of a part. Metallic components and its alloys have attracted worldwide attention due to the near net shape output and for the challenges posed in arriving at a high quality component.
