Effect of ECAP on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of 17-4PH Stainless Steel

Materials Science Forum, 2010
Experiments were conducted to evaluate the influence of equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 17-4PH steel. The 17-4PH steel was solution-treated at 1040°C for 1h followed by oil cooling before ECAP process.

Inhibitive Effect of Nitrate on Pitting Corrosion of 17-4PH Stainless Steel

Corrosion, 2016
In this work, the inhibition effect of nitrate on the pitting corrosion of 17-4PH stainless steel was investigated in the chloride solution. Potentiodynamic and potentiostatic techniques were used to measure the pitting potential and induction time in various concentrations of chloride and nitrate ions.

Influence of Sulfur Content on the Corrosion Resistance of 17-4PH Stainless Steel

Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2017
According to specification standards, the basic chemical composition of steel 17-4PH for special and critical applications is 15-17% Cr, 3.0-5.0% Ni, 3.0-5.0% Cu, 0.07% C (max) and 0.15-0.45% (Nb + Ta) (wt.%). The maximum sulfur content is 0.030%. However, as it will be shown in this work, this maximum limit for sulfur is too high for services where ...

EFFECT OF CASTING DEFECT ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF 17-4PH STAINLESS STEEL

International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2006
Damage and integrity evaluation techniques should be developed steadily in order to ensure the reliability and the economic efficiency of gas turbine engines. Casting defects may exist in most casting components of gas turbine engines, and the defects could give serious effect on mechanical properties and fracture toughness.

Influence of Feed Variation on Tool Wear When Milling Stainless Steel 17-4Ph

Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1994
This paper presents the results of experimental studies on the influence of feed variation on tool wear during face milling. Experimental results on milling Stainless Steel 17-4PH show that it is possible to increase tool life substantially with a proper variation of the cutting feed rate throughout the cutting process.

Microstructure characteristics of segregation zone in 17-4PH stainless steel piston rod

Journal of Iron and Steel Research International, 2017
The segregation of Cu and Ni in a 17-4PH stainless steel piston rod has been confirmed to be responsible for the cracking after heat treatment. Further investigation showed that the segregation zone was composed of three layers, namely the fine grain martensitic layer, the coarse grain martensitic layer and the coarse grain austenitic layer from the ...
