The Association Between Physical Activity and Domain‐Specific Cognitive Function in the Elderly: A Cross‐Sectional Study and Genetic Analysis

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Graphical abstract of the relationship between physical activity and cognitive function in older adults. Regular activity was associated with better cognitive performance, and vigorous‐intensity physical activity showed stronger genetic benefits across multiple cognitive domains.

Ishikawa Iterative Process for a Pair of Single-valued and Multivalued Nonexpansive Mappings in Banach Spaces

open access: yesFixed Point Theory and Applications, 2010
Let be a nonempty compact convex subset of a uniformly convex Banach space , and let and be a single-valued nonexpansive mapping and a multivalued nonexpansive mapping, respectively. Assume in addition that and for all .

Hechtia mixtecana sp. nov. (Hechtioideae; Bromeliaceae), from Oaxaca, Mexico

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 5, May 2026.
Botanical explorations carried out in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, led to the discovery of a new Bromeliaceae: Hechtia mixtecana, which is here described and illustrated. The new taxon is compared with the morphologically similar Hechtia fragilis, Hechtia lyman‐smithii, and Hechtia minuta.

An Implicit Iterative Scheme for an Infinite Countable Family of Asymptotically Nonexpansive Mappings in Banach Spaces

open access: yesFixed Point Theory and Applications, 2008
Let be a nonempty closed convex subset of a reflexive Banach space with a weakly continuous dual mapping, and let be an infinite countable family of asymptotically nonexpansive mappings with the sequence satisfying for each , , and for each

Comparative Analysis of Gut Microbiota Among Captive Waterbird Species: Effects of Diet and Environmental Factors

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
This study reveals that diet drives gut microbiota differences in captive waterbirds (bar‐headed goose, ruddy shelduck, black‐necked crane), with protein‐rich diets shaping distinct microbial communities. Artificial lakes enhance microbial diversity compared to enclosures, offering insights for improving captive waterbird health.

The Flooding Gradient Affects Seed Dispersal by Fruit‐Eating Fishes in Amazonian Whitewater Floodplain Forests

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 3, May 2026.
This research approaches the interaction between frugivorous fish and the flooded forests in the central Amazon. We evaluated the fruit consumption by fish and the seed dispersal potential along the flood gradient. We tested the hypothesis that the role of fish as seed dispersers varies between low várzea (LV) and high várzea (HV) forests.

Income taxes and redistribution in the early twentieth century

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, Volume 79, Issue 2, Page 634-660, May 2026.
Abstract This paper examines the distributive effects of personal income taxation in Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States during the first half of the twentieth century. We estimate the evolution of marginal and average effective tax rates across the income distribution and calculate the corresponding indices of progressivity and ...

The team orienteering problem with variable time windows

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 1705-1732, May 2026.
Abstract The orienteering problem is well‐established within the domain of operational research. This paper introduces the team orienteering problem with variable time windows (TOPVTW) as a new variant of the team orienteering problem with time windows. The distinguishing feature of the TOPVTW is the adaptive time windows, which evolve dynamically as a

The Effect of Adjunctive Systemic Antibiotics on the Outcomes of Non‐Surgical Periodontal Therapy: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Periodontology, Volume 53, Issue 5, Page 719-734, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate the real‐world comparative effectiveness of various adjunctive systemic antibiotic regimens in combination with scaling and root planing (SRP) using a large, multi‐centre retrospective cohort. Materials and Methods Electronic health records were used retrospectively to categorise periodontitis patients into ‘SRP Only’ or ‘SRP +
