2,4-D plasmids and persistence
Nature, 1977ACCORDING to the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation production year book of 1974, 27×10 kg of the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) were consumed in 1973, making this the most extensively used of all pesticides. One desirable characteristic of 2,4-D, apart from its efficacy as a herbicide, is its lack of persistence in the environment,

Abstract 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) was first registered in 1947 as an agricultural herbicide, and it is still the most widely used herbicide worldwide. End-use products, however, are generally formulated as inorganic or amine salts, or as esters.

Engineering 2,4-D resistance into cotton
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1992To reduce damage by drift-levels of the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, we have engineered the 2,4-D resistance trait into cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.). The 2,4-D monooxygenase gene tfdA from Alcaligenes eutrophus plasmid pJP5 was isolated, modified and expressed in transgenic tobacco and cotton plants.

2,4-D DEGRADATION AND 2,4-D DEGRADING MICROORGANISMS IN SOILS1
Soil Science, 1984ABSTRACT In laboratory studies on Cecil loamy sand and Webster sandy clay loam, I examined the influence of soil-water tension and soil temperature on 14C-2,4-D degradation and the formation of nonextractable 14C-residues, and I correlated the degradation rate with the growth rate of 2,4-D degrading microorganisms. 14C-2,4-D rapidly mineralized in the

Animal models in the neurotoxicology of 2,4-D
Human & Experimental Toxicology, 20192,4-D is a selective pre- and postemergence herbicide used for several crops. It is hazardous for the environment and risk for humans; therefore, several studies attempt to evaluate its effects and consequences of its use. The nervous system is supposedly a target for this herbicide, and this comprehensive review gathers the information about animal ...

The localization of 2,4-D in leaf tissue
Planta, 1970Disruption of chloroplast structure is known to occur following applications of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) to the leaves of Phaseolus vulgaris. Although chloroplasts which had been extracted from treated tissue in an aqueous medium were free from 2,4-D and its metabolites, those extracted from freeze-dried tissue in organic solvents are the

The degradation of 2,4-D in forest litter
Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 1967These studies have shown that 2,4-D is rapidly degraded in forest litter and that the rate of degradation varies with the type of litter, herbicide formulation and the presence of DDT. The degradation of 2,4-D varies slightly in litter from different vegetation types when incubated under similar environmental conditions.

Evaluation of 2,4-D and 2,4-D Mixtures for Path Rush Control in Bermudagrass
Weed Technology, 2007Path rush can become problematic on golf course fairways, especially on roughs where continuous golf cart or maintenance equipment traffic occurs. Research trials conducted in 2003 and 2004 compared the efficacy of 2,4-D and mixtures containing 2,4-D in single or sequential applications to herbicides without 2,4-D for path rush control in bermudagrass ...

The level of action of 2,4-D on transcription
Experientia, 1978In mature cells, 2,4-D retards transcription when it is applied before 3H-uridine incorporation. But transcription is accelerated when it is applied after feeding with 3H-uridine. It has been suggested that the action of 2,4-D on transcription is only at the level of initiation.
