Phenylalanine‐Tethered pH‐Responsive Poly(2‐Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate)

Chemistry – An Asian Journal, 2021
AbstractA series of pH‐responsive random copolymers comprised of 2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and tert‐butyl carbamate (Boc)‐protected phenylalanine methacryloyloxyethyl ester (Boc‐Phe‐EMA) were synthesized via reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization in N,N′‐dimethylformamide (DMF) at 70 °C.

Dual‐functional electrospun poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate)

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, 2011
AbstractPoly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (pHEMA) has been widely used in many biomedical applications due to its well‐known biocompatibility. For tissue engineering applications, porous scaffolds that mimic fibrous structures of natural extracellular matrix and possess high surface‐area‐to‐volume ratios are highly desirable.

Mechanical Responses of 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate-Methacrylonitrile and 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate-Acrylonitrile Copolymer Networks

International Journal of Polymeric Materials, 1976
Abstract The mechanical behaviour of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-methacrylonitrile (HEMA-MAN)and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-acrylonitrile (HEMA-AN) copolymer networks of various composition prepared in presence of 0.6 × 10−4 mol cm−3 ethylene dimethacrylate and 20 vol.-% dimethylformamide were investigated. The viscoelastic and stress-strain behaviour

Macroporous Hydrogels Based on 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate. Part 1. Copolymers of 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate with Methacrylic Acid

Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, 2003
A series of macroporous crosslinked copolymers of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) with methacrylic acid (MA) was prepared in the presence of fractionated particles of sodium chloride. The hydrogels were characterized by the number of pores in unit volume, the pore size, the water content in pores and diffusion parameters.

Genotoxicity and cytotoxicity of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate

Mutation Research/Genetic Toxicology and Environmental Mutagenesis, 2010
Resin-based methacrylate materials are widely used in restorative dentistry. They are viscous substances that are converted into solid material via polymerization. This process, however, may be incomplete, leading to the release of monomers into the oral cavity and the pulp, which can be reached through the dentin micro-channels.

Copolymerizations of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate with alkyl methacrylates

European Polymer Journal, 1979
Abstract Copolymerizations of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate with ethyl methacrylate and n -butyl methacrylate were studied in bulk at temperatures between 60 and 80° using benzoyl peroxide as initiator. The monomer reactivity ratios were calculated using Joshi-Joshi, Fineman-Ross and intersection methods.

Miscibility of poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) with (methyl methacrylate)/(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and (n-butyl methacrylate)/(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) copolymers

European Polymer Journal, 1991
Abstract The miscibility of poly( N -vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP) with (methyl methacrylate)/(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (MMA/HEMA) and (n-butyl methacrylate)/(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (BMA/HEMA) copolymers was studied. While PVP is immiscible with poly(methyl methacrylate), it is miscible with a MMA/HEMA copolymer containing 1.9 mol% of HEMA ...

Thermal behaviour of 2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate ‐ methyl methacrylate‐ copolymers

Die Angewandte Makromolekulare Chemie, 1980
AbstractCopolymerization of 2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) with methyl methacrylate (MMA) was carried out in bulk in nitrogen atmosphere at 70°C using 0.2% benzoyl peroxide as initiator. Fractionation of the copolymers was done by precipitation method. The fractions were characterized by viscosity, NMR, IR and elemental analysis.
