Green extraction of hemp seeds cake (Cannabis sativa L.) with 2-methyloxolane: A response surface optimisation study [PDF]
The extraction of hemp seed oil (HSO) with 2-methyltetrahydrofuran, also known as 2methyloxolane (2-MeOx), was investigated as an alternative to hexane. Hemp seeds ( Cannabis sativa L.) have a high nutrient content with an excellent source of lipids (25 -35%) and easily digestible proteins (20 -25%).

Investigating bio-based solvents as a sustainable alternative in the formulation and fabrication of superhydrophobic surfaces [PDF]
Organic solvents can be highly toxic to humans, causing damage to the tissues and toxin metabolizing systems. Petroleum-based solvents (such as n-hexane) are likely to trigger endocrine disruption in humans regularly exposed to them. Given this, there is

Oxidative Stability of Virgin and Refined Argan [Argania spinosa L. (Skeels)] Oil under Accelerated Aging Conditions and Shelf-Life Prediction at Room Temperature: A Comparative Study [PDF]
Argan kernels, fruits regurgitated by goats, are 30% cheaper than the regular kernels used to prepare food argan oil. The use of such argan kernels as a cosmetic ingredient, after refining, is thus economically attractive.
