Acid Catalyzed Formation of C–C and C–S Bonds via Excited State Proton Transfer
The behavior of 2-naphthol and 7-bromo-2-naphthol as organic photoacids are exploited in organic synthesis for the preparation of benzyl sulfides (using a trichloroacetimidate derivative as the starting substrate) and polycyclic amines via acid catalyzed

UCHL3 Regulates Subgenomic Flaviviral RNA Condensates to Promote Virus Propagation
ABSTRACT Flavivirus subgenomic RNAs (sfRNAs) antagonise antiviral defences, yet how sfRNAs are organized and maintained in cells remains poorly understood. Here we identify ubiquitin C‐terminal hydrolase L3 (UCHL3) as a post‐translational regulator of flavivirus sfRNA stability and function.

The title compound, C15H17NO2, is a product of a Mannich reaction involving 2-naphthol, formaldehyde and morpholine. The morpholine ring has a chair conformation and the crystal structure is stabilized by an intramolecular O—H⋯N hydrogen bond linking the naphthol OH group and the morpholine N atom.

A self‐assembled monolayer (≈0.9 nm) of an axially chiral binaphthol phosphoric acid derivative on a ferromagnetic Ni/NiOx substrate shows chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) magnetoresistance of 50%–80%. This thermally and chemically robust functional stack shows the way towards practical spintronic devices based on the CISS effect.

(S,S)-1-(Phenyl((1′-4-nitrophenyl-ethyl)amino)methyl)-2-naphthol
The Betti reaction of 2-naphthol, benzaldehyde and (S)-1-(4-nitrophenyl)ethylamine without any solvent gave the corresponding aminobenzylnaphthol, that is the (S,S)-1-(phenyl((1′-4-nitrophenyl-ethyl)amino)methyl)-2-naphthol, in good yield (56%).

A wireless magnetoelastic sensor has been developed for the determination of 2-naphthol (2-NAP) in human urine. This method is based on the precipitation of 2-NAP with diazonium salts produced by the diazo-reaction of sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) with nitrite under a weak alkaline condition, resulting in a descending of the resonance frequency of a wireless ...

Pd‐Catalyzed Asymmetric Dearomative Heck/Tsuji‐Trost Difunctionalization of Naphthalenes
We have developed a palladium‐catalyzed asymmetric dearomative Heck/Tsuji‐Trost 1,4‐difunctionalization reaction of naphthalenes, affording 4‐aminospirocyclohexene oxindole products bearing two remote chiral centers. Through the effect of the newly designed chiral sulfinamide phosphine ligand with large steric hindrance, side reactions are inhibited ...
