Feature-Based Diversity Optimization for Problem Instance Classification
Understanding the behaviour of heuristic search methods is a challenge. This even holds for simple local search methods such as 2-OPT for the Traveling Salesperson problem. In this paper, we present a general framework that is able to construct a diverse

The Traveling Salesrep Problem, Edge Assembly Crossover, and 2-opt [PDF]
Optimal results for the Traveling Salesrep Problem have been reported on problems with up to 3038 cities using a GA with Edge Assembly Crossover (EAX). This paper first attempts to independently replicate these results on Padberg's 532 city problem. We then evaluate the performance contribution of the various algorithm components.

Optimizing the sparse approximate inverse preconditioning algorithm on GPU
In this study, we present an optimization sparse approximate inverse (SPAI) preconditioning algorithm on GPU, called GSPAI-Opt. In GSPAI-Opt, it fuses the advantages of two popular SPAI preconditioning algorithms, and has the following novelties: (1) an ...

Highly Accurate Critical Exponents from Self-Similar Variational Perturbation Theory [PDF]
We extend field theoretic variational perturbation theory by self-similar approximation theory, which greatly accelerates convergence. This is illustrated by re-calculating the critical exponents of O(N)-symmetric $\vp^4$ theory.

Life cycle cost estimation and environmental valuation of coal mine tailings management
Sustainable mining management is increasingly seen as an important issue in achieving a social license to operate for mining companies. This study describes the life cycle cost (LCC) analysis and environmental valuation for several coal mine tailings ...

Sickle Cell Disease Is an Inherent Risk for Asthma in a Sibling Comparison Study
ABSTRACT Introduction Sickle cell disease (SCD) and asthma share a complex relationship. Although estimates vary, asthma prevalence in children with SCD is believed to be comparable to or higher than the general population. Determining whether SCD confers an increased risk for asthma remains challenging due to overlapping symptoms and the ...

Improving acceptability of nudges: Learning from attitudes towards opt-in and opt-out policies [PDF]
Policy makers should understand people’s attitudes towards opt-out nudges to smoothly promote and implement the policies. Our research compares people’s perceptions of opt-in and three improved versions of opt-out (transparency, emphasis on the low-cost ...

ABSTRACT Background While Wilms tumor (WT) typically has a favorable prognosis, relapsed cases—especially those with high‐risk histology—remain therapeutically challenging after intensive frontline therapy. The combination of vincristine and irinotecan has demonstrated activity in pediatric solid tumors, and pazopanib, a multi‐targeted tyrosine kinase ...
