Trajectory Design of Laser-Powered Multi-Drone Enabled Data Collection System for Smart Cities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper considers a multi-drone enabled data collection system for smart cities, where there are two kinds of drones, i.e., Low Altitude Platforms (LAPs) and a High Altitude Platform (HAP).

Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

Participant recruitment in sensitive surveys: a comparative trial of ‘opt in’ versus ‘opt out’ approaches

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2013
Background Although in health services survey research we strive for a high response rate, this must be balanced against the need to recruit participants ethically and considerately, particularly in surveys with a sensitive nature.

Interpretation of single target positivity among SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR result tests

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Virology Plus, 2021
Background: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) recently emerged and is responsible for coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19). Diagnostic tests have been developed, mainly based on reverse-transcriptase PCR (RT-PCR).

Using 2-Opt based evolution strategy for travelling salesman problem

open access: yesAn International Journal of Optimization and Control: Theories & Applications (IJOCTA), 2016
Harmony search algorithm that matches the (µ+1) evolution strategy, is a heuristic method simulated by the process of music improvisation. In this paper, a harmony search algorithm is directly used for the travelling salesman problem. Instead of conventional selection operators such as roulette wheel, the transformation of real number values of harmony

Personalizing the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship: Adapting Training for the Next Generation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The pediatric hematology‐oncology fellowship training curriculum has not substantially changed since its inception. The first year of training is clinically focused, and the second and third years are devoted to scholarship. However, this current structure leaves many fellows less competitive in the current job market, resulting in ...

A Heuristic Method of Generating Diameter 3 Graphs for Order/Degree Problem

open access: yes, 2016
We propose a heuristic method that generates a graph for order/degree problem. Target graphs of our heuristics have large order (> 4000) and diameter 3. We describe the ob- servation of smaller graphs and basic structure of our heuristics.

Psychosocial Outcomes in Patients With Endocrine Tumor Syndromes: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The combination of disease manifestations, the familial burden, and varying penetrance of endocrine tumor syndromes (ETSs) is unique. This review aimed to portray and summarize available data on psychosocial outcomes in patients with ETSs and explore gaps and opportunities for future research and care.

A GPU Implementation of Local Search Operators for Symmetric Travelling Salesman Problem

open access: yesPromet (Zagreb), 2013
The Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP) is one of the most studied combinatorial optimization problem which is significant in many practical applications in transportation problems. The TSP problem is NP-hard problem and requires large computation power to

Development of Ciprofloxacin-Loaded Bilosomes In-Situ Gel for Ocular Delivery: Optimization, In-Vitro Characterization, Ex-Vivo Permeation, and Antimicrobial Study

open access: yesGels, 2022
Conventional eye drops are most commonly employed topically in the eye for the management of bacterial conjunctivitis. Eye drops have a low corneal residence time and 90–95% of the administered dose is eliminated from the eye by blinking and the ...
