Background Antimicrobial resistance in Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (SP) and the prevalence of meticillin‐resistant SP (MRSP) is increasing in dogs worldwide. Objectives To evaluate the influence of hospital size on antimicrobial resistance of SP and whether restricted use of antimicrobials based on antibiograms could reduce the identification of ...

Abstract Every finite simple group can be generated by two elements, and Guralnick and Kantor proved that, moreover, every nontrivial element is contained in a generating pair. Groups with this property are said to be 32‐generated. Thompson's group V was the first finitely presented infinite simple group to be discovered.

Background– Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) may cause suppurative otitis externa with severe inflammation and ulceration in dogs. Multidrug resistance is commonly reported for this organism, creating a difficult therapeutic challenge. Objective– The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial activity of a gel containing 0.5 µg/mL of ...

Generators for maximal subgroups of Conway group Co1
The Conway groups are the three sporadic simple groups Co1, Co2 and Co3. There are total of 22 maximal subgroups of Co1 and generators of 6 maximal subgroups are provided in web Atlas of finite simple groups.

A new characterization of some alternating and symmetric groups
We suppose that p = 2α3β + 1, where α ≥ 1, β ≥ 0, and p ≥ 7 is a prime number. Then we prove that the simple groups An, where n = p, p + 1, or p + 2, and finite groups Sn, where n = p, p + 1, are also uniquely determined by their order components. As corollaries of these results, the validity of a conjecture of J. G.

Maximal subgroups of finite groups
In finite groups maximal subgroups play a very important role. Results in the literature show that if the maximal subgroup has a very small index in the whole group then it influences the structure of the group itself. In this paper we study the case when the index of the maximal subgroups of the groups have a special type of relation with the Fitting ...

Associativity of the Commutator Operation in Groups [PDF]
The study of associativity of the commutator operation in groups goes back to some work of Levi in 1942. In the 1960's Richard J. Thompson created a group F whose elements are representatives of the generalized associative law for an arbitrary binary ...

Character degree sums in finite nonsolvable groups
Let N be a minimal normal nonabelian subgroup of a finite group G. We will show that there exists a nontrivial irreducible character of N of degree at least 5 which is extendible to G.

Fusion Systems and Rank $2$ Simple Groups of Lie Type
For any prime p and S a p-group isomorphic to a Sylow p-subgroup of a rank $2$ simple group of Lie type in characteristic p, we determine all saturated fusion systems supported on S up to isomorphism.
