Weakly $S$-semipermutable subgroups and $p$-nilpotency of groups

Rendiconti del Seminario Matematico della Universita di Padova, 2023
A subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be S-semipermutable in G if HGp = GpH for every Sylow subgroup Gp of G with (|H|, p) = 1. A subgroup H of G is said to be Weakly S-semipermutable in G if there exists a normal subgroup T of G such that HT is S ...

Detecting structural properties of finite groups by the sum of element orders

Israel Journal of Mathematics, 2019
In this paper, we introduce a new function related to the sum of element orders of finite groups. It is used to give some criteria for a finite group to be cyclic, abelian, nilpotent, supersolvable and solvable, respectively.

Groups with few self-centralizing subgroups which are not self-normalizing

Rendiconti del Seminario Matematico della Universita di Padova, 2019
A self-normalizing subgroup is always self-centralizing, but the converse is not necessarily true. Given a finite group G, we denote by w(G) the number of all self-centralizing subgroups of G which are not self-normalizing.

Zeros of irreducible characters of metabelian $p$-groups

Rendiconti del Seminario Matematico della Universita di Padova, 2018
We show that if χ is an irreducible complex character of a metabelian p group P, where p is an odd prime, and if x ∈ P satisfies χ(x) 6= 0, then the order of x divides |P |/χ(1). Mathematics Subject Classification (2010). 20C15; 20D15.
