Aspects on the analysis of 210Po
Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2011There has been little development regarding analysis of polonium (Po) in environmental samples since the 1960 ies. This is due to the straightforward spontaneous deposition of this element on silver (Ag), nickel (Ni) or copper (Cu) without any radiochemical separation.

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2018
As a continuation of previous work (Kmak et al. in J Radioanal Nucl Chem 314:985–989, 2017), an isotope generator column based on the 210Pb decay chain has been made to produce highly radiopure 210Po. Two replicate studies were performed on AG 50Wx8 columns with an average yield of 90.4 ± 1.9%.

210Pb and 210Po in Finnish cereals
Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2011A survey was carried out on the activity concentrations of (210)Pb and (210)Po in cereal grains produced in Finland. The cereal species were wheat (Triticum aestivum), rye (Secale cereale), oats (Avena sativa) and barley (Hordeum vulgare), which account for 90% of the Finnish consumption of cereal products.

Bioaccumulation of polonium 210Po in marine birds
Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2007The aim of this work was to determine the 210Po content in marine birds which permanently or temporally live in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. We chose 11 species of sea birds: three species permanently residing at southern Baltic Sea, four species of wintering birds and three species of migrating birds.

Determination of 210Po and 210Pb in rainwater using measurement of 210Po and 210Bi
Analytica Chimica Acta, 2000Abstract A method for determination of 210 Po and 210 Pb in rainwater samples is described. This method was developed to permit measurement of the radionuclides in rainwater samples collected at short time intervals (2 weeks) on a small area (0.5 m 2 ) and to give results with the minimum delay. This was achieved by estimating

210Po AND 210Pb ACTIVITY IN CHINESE CIGARETTES
Health Physics, 2009The radon decay products lead-210 ((210)Pb) and polonium-210 ((210)Po) are known components of tobacco. China is the world's largest producer and consumer of cigarettes, yet no comprehensive published reports of the (210)Pb and (210)Po activity concentrations in Chinese cigarettes are available.

Population Monitoring for Acute Exposure to 210Po
Journal of Occupational & Environmental Medicine, 2008To investigate the feasibility of using single void urine samples to monitor internal radiation exposure of first responders and large populations int he event of a radiological incident involving the intentional dispersal of 210Po.Urinary excretion of 210Po was evaluated and organ absorbed and effective doses were calculated subsequent to an acute ...

210Po in Human Saliva of Smokeless Tobacco Users
Health Physics, 2017The occurrence and mobility of Po in oral smokeless tobacco products (STPs) were determined because its effects on human health must be taken into account. This research was subdivided into two parts: determination by alpha spectrometry of the Po activity concentration in 16 oral smokeless tobacco products of different brands purchased in local ...

Assessment of 210Po in Italian diet
Food Chemistry, 2014This research was dedicated to the study, in the Italian daily diet, of the background activity concentration of (210)Po, a radionuclide with a high radiotoxicity. (210)Po was determined by alpha spectrometry. For food products of vegetable origin, the (210)Po activity concentration follows the trend: leafy vegetable>flour>rice>fruits>pasta>other ...

Accumulation of 210Po in Baltic invertebrates
Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 1988This paper presents the results of an investigation of the 210Po contents of Baltic marine invertebrates. The 210Po concentrations fall within the range 11·3–78·9 Bq kg−1 (dry wt), the higher values relating to polychaeta, priapulida and malacostraca and the lower levels to bivalvia.
