Determination of 226Ra Activity Using Gamma Spectrometry with 226Ra–222Rn Disequilibrium
Health Physics, 2015Radium-226 (Ra) activity is normally determined indirectly by gamma spectrometry, in particular by measuring the characteristic γ-ray emitted from its progeny (Pb and Bi) when Ra-Rn secular equilibrium is reached. This article describes a measurement method involving the measurement of Pb ingrowth.

226Ra, 228Ra and 228Ra/226Ra in surface marine sediment of Malaysia
Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2012Surface sediment samples were collected at the West (east coast and west coast of Peninsular Malaysia) and East (Sabah and Sarawak) Malaysia in several expeditions within August 2003 until June 2008 for determining the level of natural radium isotopes.

Abstract Radioactive targets of 226 Ra were Coulomb excited by 4 He projectiles (particle spectroscopy), and 16 O, 32 S and 208 Pb projectiles (particle-γ coincidences). The K = 0± rotational bands could be followed up to spin 18 + and 17 − , respectively.

Dissolution characteristics of 226Ra from phosphogypsum
Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2002The paper presents the results of the dissolution characteristics of 226Ra from phosphogypsum, a by-product from phosphate fertilizer industries. Leachability of 226Ra in distilled water and rainwater have been examined under different leaching conditions such as contact time, solid:liquid ratio and simulating natural conditions.

226Ra is an ultra-trace element with important environmental implications for many industries (including water treatment and oil and mineral extraction). Its extremely low concentrations in natural environments do not allow for direct observation and measurement of the 226Ra-bearing minerals governing 226Ra mobility.

226Ra determination by electrodeposition
Science of The Total Environment, 1988Abstract Direct methods for the determination of 226 Ra in the environment are not very common. In general the activity of this radionuclide is calculated through the analysis of its daughter 222 Rn, or by observing the growth of α activity of an Ra sample.

Concentration of 226Ra in Human Teeth
Health Physics, 1994226Ra concentrations in human teeth from several cities, mainly Tokyo, Japan, were determined with emphasis on the measurement of low-level 226Ra by alpha-ray spectrometry following chemical separation. No appreciable differences in 226Ra concentration were found among various permanent teeth samples of different age groups in Tokyo.
