CRITICAL EXPERIMENT OF THORIUM LOADED THERMAL CORES AT KUCA (1) A NEW CRITICAL EXPERIMENT OF THORIUM LOADED CORE WITH HARDER NEUTRON SPECTRUM IN KUCA [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2021
In order to perform integral evaluation of 232Th capture cross section, a series of critical experiments for thorium-loaded and solid-moderated cores in KUCA had been carried out. In these experimental cores, H/235U nuclide ratio ranged about from 150 to

Acute oral toxicity and bioavailability of uranium and thorium in contaminated soil

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2023
A robust approach was conducted to determining the absolute oral bioavailable (fab) fractions of 238U and 232Th in rats exposed to contaminated soil along with their hematotoxicity and nephrotoxicity.

Radioactivity of soil in Croatia I: naturally occurring decay chains

open access: yesArhiv za Higijenu Rada i Toksikologiju, 2021
The assessment of environmental radioactivity much relies on radionuclide content in soil. This stems from the significant contribution of soil to both external and internal exposure to ionising radiation via direct emission of gamma radiation and soil ...

Radionuclide Potential of Holocene Sediments in the West of Marmara Sea (Turkey)

open access: yesJournal of the Turkish Chemical Society, Section A: Chemistry, 2020
Radionuclides that cause radioactive pollution descend to the bottom in marine and water environments such as heavy metals and accumulate in bottom sediments.

A Novel Tracer Technique to Quantify the Lithogenic Input Flux of Trace Elements to Qinghai Lake

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
Thorium (Th) isotopes were applied to quantify the contributions of lithogenic inputs to the Qinghai Lake (QHH). Concentrations of dissolved 232Th and 230Th were measured in 59 water samples collected from Qinghai Lake and its exogenous recharge rivers ...

Fission of muonic 232Th and 238U [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1978
Abstract Muon-induced prompt fission of 232 Th and 238 U, interpreted usually as being caused by muonic radiationless transitions, was observed in delayed coincidence with the decay electrons from muons bound to fission fragments. The measured lifetime indicates that the muon is captured preferentially by the heavy fragments.

Radiological health risks assessment of vegetable and fruit samples taken from the provincial borders of Adıyaman in the south-eastern Anatolia region, in Turkey

open access: yesJournal of Radiation Research and Applied Sciences, 2022
In this study, the natural radionuclide activity concentrations such as 238U, 232Th and 4 K were measured in 65 vegetable-fruit samples taken from fields within provincial borders of Adıyaman in the south-eastern Anatolia region of Türkiye.

Calibration and testing of a portable NaI(Tl) gamma-ray spectrometer-dosimeter for evaluation of terrestrial radionuclides and 137Cs contributions to ambient dose equivalent rate outdoors

open access: yesРадиационная гигиена, 2017
A commercially available NaI(Tl) based spectrometer-dosimeter has been used to separate contributions of the terrestrial radionuclides (238U series, 232Th series and 40K) and 137Cs to the total ambient dose equivalent rate (ADER), Ḣ*(10) , outdoors.
