Pulsed Electric Fields-Assisted Extraction of Valuable Compounds From Arthrospira Platensis: Effect of Pulse Polarity and Mild Heating

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2020
The present study aimed to investigate the effect of the main pulsed electric field (PEF) process parameters on the cell damages of A. platensis microalgae and the extractability of valuable compounds [water-soluble proteins (WSP), C-phycocyanin (C-PC ...

Maintaining image quality for paediatric chest CTs while lowering dose: FBP versus SAFIRE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Objectives: Children have a greater risk from radiation, per unit dose, due to increased radiosensitivity and longer life expectancies. It is of paramount importance to reduce the radiation dose received by children.

Clinical Conditions Associated With a High Antinuclear Antibody Titer in Individuals Without Autoimmune Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) are present at high titers in 2% of the general population, but their clinical significance in individuals without an autoimmune (AI) disease is not known. We tested the hypothesis that the presence of a high ANA titer in non‐AI conditions is associated with disease.

Construction of scrambled polynomial lattice rules over $\mathbb{F}_2$ with small mean square weighted $\mathcal{L}_2$ discrepancy

open access: yes, 2013
The $\mathcal{L}_2$ discrepancy is one of several well-known quantitative measures for the equidistribution properties of point sets in the high-dimensional unit cube.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

อิฐกันรังสี

open access: yesJournal of Associated Medical Sciences, 2008

Equilibration and Dynamic Phase Transitions of a Driven Vortex Lattice

open access: yes, 2000
We report on the observation of two types of current driven transitions in metastable vortex lattices. The metastable states, which are missed in usual slow transport measurements, are detected with a fast transport technique in the vortex lattice of ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for
