Proper isometric actions of hyperbolic groups on $L^p$-spaces

open access: yes, 2013
We show that every non-elementary hyperbolic group $\G$ admits a proper affine isometric action on $L^p(\bd\G\times \bd\G)$, where $\bd\G$ denotes the boundary of $\G$ and $p$ is large enough.

Hair fragility (trichorrhexis nodosa) in alopecic Pomeranian dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 36, Issue 1, Page 64-73, February 2025.
Background – Alopecia associated with hair cycle arrest (HCA, Alopecia X) is well‐recognised in Pomeranian dogs. The authors are unaware of reports of hair fragility in affected dogs. Hypothesis/Objectives – Following the observation of frequent hair shaft abnormalities in alopecic Pomeranians, we hypothesised that hair fragility events would be more ...

Quasiconformal curves and quasiconformal maps in metric spaces

open access: yesAnalysis and Geometry in Metric Spaces
In this article, we study quasiconformal curves which are a special case of quasiregular curves. Namely embeddings Ω→Rm\Omega \to {{\mathbb{R}}}^{m} from some domain Ω⊂Rn\Omega \subset {{\mathbb{R}}}^{n} to Rm{{\mathbb{R}}}^{m}, where n≤mn\le m, belong ...

Sublinear quasiconformality and the large-scale geometry of Heintze groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This article analyzes sublinearly quasisymmetric homeo-morphisms (generalized quasisymmetric mappings), and draws applications to the sublinear large-scale geometry of negatively curved groups and spaces.

Doubling measures on uniform Cantor sets

open access: yes, 2014
We obtain a complete description for a probability measure to be doubling on an arbitrarily given uniform Cantor set. The question of which doubling measures on such a Cantor set can be extended to a doubling measure on [0; 1] is also ...

On $(\alpha_n)$-regular sets

open access: yes, 2014
We define $(\alpha_n)$ -regular sets in uniformly perfect metric spaces. This definition is quasisymmetrically invariant and the construction resembles generalized dyadic cubes in metric spaces.

Bounded compositions on scaling invariant Besov spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
For $0 < s < 1 < q < \infty$, we characterize the homeomorphisms $\varphi : \real^n \to \real^n$ for which the composition operator $f \mapsto f \circ \varphi$ is bounded on the homogeneous, scaling invariant Besov space $\dot{B}^s_{n/s,q}(\real^n ...

Quasicircles and Bounded Turning Circles Modulo bi-Lipschitz Maps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We construct a catalog, of snowflake type metric circles, that describes all metric quasicircles up to \bl\ equivalence. This is a metric space analog of a result due to Rohde.

Geometric and analytic quasiconformality in metric measure spaces

open access: yes, 2011
We prove the equivalence between geometric and analytic definitions of quasiconformality for a homeomorphism $f\colon X\rightarrow Y$ between arbitrary locally finite separable metric measure spaces, assuming no metric hypotheses on either space. When $X$
