Catalytic CO2 Conversion and H2/Syngas Production via Thermal, Plasma, and Membrane Processes

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
In this review article, the recent progress of CO2 conversion and H2/syngas production via thermo‐catalytic, plasma‐assisted catalytic, and membrane‐assisted catalytic processes is covered. The reaction mechanism of each process is illustrated in detail based on the reaction category.

Mitochondria‐Catalyzed Activation of Anticancer Prodrugs

open access: yesChemCatChem, Accepted Article.
Mitochondria mediate electron transport chain (ETC) to power ATP synthase. In cancer cells, the ETC is disturbed leading to leakage of electron that ultimately results in generation of H2O2. This difference between cancer and healthy cells can be used for the design of cancer‐specific prodrugs as confirmed in several proof‐of‐concept studies ...

Metallaphotoredox Deoxygenative Arylation of Alcohols: a Viable Strategy for the Synthesis of Tryptamine Derivatives

open access: yesChemCatChem, Accepted Article.
A metallaphotoredox deoxygenative arylation of alcohols strategy has been applied to prepare in a one pot procedure tryptamine derivatives. Starting from 3‐Br indoles and 2‐amino alcohols, in the presence of an Ir photocatalyst and catalytic amounts of NiBr2, 3‐(2‐aminoethyl)‐substituted indoles have been synthesized in up to 76% yield after 2 hours ...

Habermann and Pommer (1991) Revisited: Decoding the Mechanism of a Sulfide Storing Microbial Fuel Cell Anode

open access: yesChemElectroChem, EarlyView.
This abiotic study elucidates the chemical and electrochemical anode processes within an unconventional, sulfide storing microbial fuel cell, as proposed by Habermann and Pommer in 1991. It analyzes the role of cobalt oxide species in the sulfide storage and oxidation, serving as a foundation of a future utilization of this microbial fuel cell concept.
