Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals Exposure and Neurocognitive Function in the General Population: A Community-Based Study

open access: yesToxics
Background: Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are pervasive in everyday environments. The impacts of these chemicals, along with EDC-related lifestyle and dietary habits on neurocognitive function, are not well understood.

Connexin43 Deficiency Leads to Ventricular Arrhythmias by Reprogramming Proline Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study demonstrated that connexin43 (Cx43) knockout caused arrhythmic phenotype and decreased proline content in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, Cx43 interacts with the amino acid transporter SNAT2 (sodium‐dependent neutral amino acid transporter), and its deficiency disrupts proline transport and metabolism.

Gram‐Scale Synthesis of Hafnium‐Rich Carbon Dots for Preclinical Computed Tomography Imaging Across Various Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hafnium (Hf)‐rich carbon dots (Hf‐rCDs) with high metal content (40.7%) and robust batch production capacity (>2 g per batch) are synthesized via a facile air‐assisted pyrolysis method. In vivo CT imaging demonstrates outstanding performance of Hf‐rCDs across multiple physiological systems and enables high‐resolution visualization of swine cervical ...

Boosting Photo‐Pyroelectric Effect via Tunable Polarization and Interfacial Defect Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports Ba(Ti0.85Zr0.15)O3 nanocatalysts with enhanced polarization and oxygen‐vacancy‐rich interfaces for efficient NIR‐II photo‐pyroelectric therapy. Zr doping boosts the pyroelectric coefficient and accelerates polarization switching, while oxygen vacancies improve photothermal conversion and surface reactivity.

Polymer‐in‐Cage Strategy for Pore Tuning of High‐Aspect Ratio ZIF Nanoplate: Toward Sub‐Micrometer‐Thick Large Area CO2 Separation Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A “polymer‐in‐cage” strategy transforms a zinc‐acrylate copolymer into an active pore‐modulating agent for ZIF‐8 nanoplates. The polymer actively tunes the MOF's pore structure by anchoring within its windows, while the nanoplates create tortuous pathways.

A Systematic Review of Parental Occupational Pesticide Exposure and Geographical Proximity to Agricultural Fields in Association with Neural Tube Defects

open access: yesToxics
Neural tube defects (NTDs) are the second most common congenital anomaly and have been widely associated with exposure to pesticides. This systematic review which analyzes the association between parental exposure to pesticides and NTDs was conducted in ...

Noise Fingerprints as a Quantitative Order Parameter for Polarization‐ and Defect‐Mediated Switching in Hafnia Ferroelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Low‐frequency noise fingerprints in hafnia ferroelectrics provide a quantitative handle to resolve the long‐standing debate between polarization‐mediated and defect‐mediated switching. By tuning oxygen vacancy density via ALD O3 dose time and applying a physically constrained deconvolution, we extract bias‐resolved current fractions for both mechanisms

Microglial GPR35 Ameliorates Epileptogenesis and Neuroinflammation via PDGFA Domain 2 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Activation of microglial G protein–coupled receptor 35 (GPR35) by L‐kynurenic acid (L‐Kyna) initiates a platelet‐derived growth factor A (PDGFA)–dependent phosphoinositide 3‐kinase–protein kinase B (PI3K–AKT) signaling cascade that dampens hippocampal neuroinflammation, thereby restraining epileptogenesis, lowering seizure susceptibility, and ...

Comparative Analysis of Cytomegalovirus Gastrointestinal Disease in Immunocompetent and Immunocompromised Patients

open access: yesViruses
Background: Cytomegalovirus (CMV) gastrointestinal (GI) diseases impact both immunocompromised and immunocompetent individuals, yet comprehensive studies highlighting the differences between these groups are lacking. Methods: In this retrospective study (
