The number of reduced alignments between two DNA sequences. [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2014
Background In this study we consider DNA sequences as mathematical strings. Total and reduced alignments between two DNA sequences have been considered in the literature to measure their similarity.

Influence of hospital size on antimicrobial resistance and advantages of restricting antimicrobial use based on cumulative antibiograms in dogs with Staphylococcus pseudintermedius infections in Japan

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 32, Issue 6, Page 668-e178, December 2021., 2021
Background Antimicrobial resistance in Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (SP) and the prevalence of meticillin‐resistant SP (MRSP) is increasing in dogs worldwide. Objectives To evaluate the influence of hospital size on antimicrobial resistance of SP and whether restricted use of antimicrobials based on antibiograms could reduce the identification of ...

Various results in relation with the hypergeometric equations and the hypergeometric functions in the complex plane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The main purpose of this investigation is to specify an extensive relation between the hypergeometric functions and the hypergeometric equations in the complex plane and then to point various implications of our main result, conclusion and also ...

Some results on a generalized ω‐Jacobi transform

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 2004, Issue 63, Page 3379-3387, 2004., 2004
We introduce a generalized ω‐Jacobi transform and obtain images of certain functions under this transform. Moreover, we define a new probability density function (pdf) involving this new generalized ω‐Jacobi function. Some basic functions associated with the pdf, such as characteristic function, moments and distribution function, are evaluated.

Integral representation of the solutions to Heun′s biconfluent equation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, Volume 2004, Issue 4, Page 295-306, 2004., 2004
First, we trace the genesis of the canonical form of Heun′s biconfluent equation. Second, we present a method which allows us to find an integral expression as a solution to our equation, and finally, using the properties of Meijer G‐functions, we give an integral representation of a fundamental system of solutions to the biconfluent equation.

K‐Bessel functions in two variables

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 2003, Issue 14, Page 909-916, 2003., 2003
The Bessel‐Muirhead hypergeometric system (or 0F1‐system) in two variables (and three variables) is solved using symmetric series, with an explicit formula for coefficients, in order to express the K‐Bessel function as a linear combination of the J‐solutions. Limits of this method and suggestions for generalizations to a higher rank are discussed.

Asymptotic expansions for ratios of products of gamma functions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 2003, Issue 18, Page 1167-1171, 2003., 2003
An asymptotic expansion for a ratio of products of gamma functions is derived.

Certain Laplace transforms of convolution type integrals involving product of two special pFp functions

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 2018
Recently the authors obtained several Laplace transforms of convolution type integrals involving Kummer’s function 1F1 [Appl. Anal. Discrete Math., 2018, 12(1), 257-272].

A generalized beta function and associated probability density

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 30, Issue 8, Page 467-478, 2002., 2002
We introduce and establish some properties of a generalized form of the beta function. Corresponding generalized incomplete beta functions are also defined. Moreover, we define a new probability density function (pdf) involving this new generalized beta function.

Sufficiency for Gaussian hypergeometric functions to be uniformly convex

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 22, Issue 4, Page 765-773, 1999., 1999
Let F(a, b; c; z) be the classical hypergeometric function and f be a normalized analytic functions defined on the unit disk 𝒰. Let an operator Ia,b;c(f) be defined by [Ia,b;c(f)](z) = zF(a, b; c; z)*f(z). In this paper the authors identify two subfamilies of analytic functions ℱ1 and ℱ2 and obtain conditions on the parameters a, b, c such that f ∈ ℱ1 ...
