Lipoperoxidation and Protein Oxidative Damage Exhibit Different Kinetics During Septic Shock

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2008
Septic shock (SS)-related multiorgan dysfunction has been associated with oxidative damage, but little is known about the temporal damage profile and its relationship to severity. The present work investigated prospectively 21 SS patients.

FGF14 GAA Intronic Expansion in Unsolved Adult‐Onset Ataxia in the Care4Rare Canada Consortium

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCA) represent a clinically and genetically heterogeneous group of progressive neurodegenerative diseases with prominent cerebellar atrophy. Recently, a novel pathogenic repeat expansion in intron 1 of FGF14 was identified, causing adult‐onset SCA (SCA27B). We aimed to determine the proportion

Targeting of SPP1 by microRNA‐340 inhibits gastric cancer cell epithelial–mesenchymal transition through inhibition of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway

open access: yesJournal of Cellular Physiology, 2019
Gastric cancer (GC) is a common heterogeneous disease. The critical roles of microRNA‐340 (miR‐340) in the development and progression of GC were emphasized in accumulating studies.

The Judicialization of (Separation of Powers) Politics: Lessons from Chile La judicialización de la (separación de poderes) política: Lecciones de Chile

open access: yesJournal of Politics in Latin America, 2010
Most analyses of the judicialization of politics focus on judicial policy-making and rights creation; however when judicialization of politics unfolds in a separation of powers political context courts are also involved in distributing power. The task of

Galactic Center Mini-spiral by ALMA - Possible Origin of the Central Cluster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present continuum images of the "Galactic Center Mini-spiral" of 100, 250, and 340 GHz bands with the analysis of the Cy.0 data acquired from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) archive. Pretty good UV coverage of the data and the "self-calibration" method give us an opportunity to obtain dynamic ranges of over 2x10^4 in the ...

Distinct Network Morphologies from In Situ Polymerization of Microtubules in Giant Polymer‐Lipid Hybrid Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The successful in situ polymerization of microtubules in giant polymer‐lipid hybrid vesicles is illustrated. The microtubules formed in the giant hybrid vesicles exhibit different morphologies including lumenal network formation and membrane association. Abstract Creating artificial cells with a dynamic cytoskeleton, akin to those in living cells, is a

MicroRNA-340-5p suppresses non-small cell lung cancer cell growth and metastasis by targeting ZNF503

open access: yesCellular & Molecular Biology Letters, 2019
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been reported to play crucial roles in cancer cell processes, including proliferation, metastasis and cell cycle progression. We aimed to identify miRNAs that could act as suppressors of cell growth and invasion in non-small cell ...

Local C-Reactive Protein Expression in Obliterative Lesions and the Bronchial Wall in Posttransplant Obliterative Bronchiolitis

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2009
The local immunoreactivity of C-reactive protein (CRP) was studied in a heterotopic porcine model of posttranplant obliterative bronchiolitis (OB).

Multifunctional Design of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures for Temporary Pediatric Fixation Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A metallic implant's higher stiffness compared to the surrounding bone leads to stress shielding problems, causing bone density reduction and bone growth interference in pediatric patients. 3D‐printed triply periodic minimal surface structures present a promising engineering solution.
