Positive bounded solutions for nonlinear polyharmonic problems in the unit ball
In this paper, we study the existence of positive solutions for the following nonlinear polyharmonic equation (-∆)mu+λf(x, u) = 0 in B; subject to some boundary conditions, where m is a positive integer, λ is a nonnegative constant and B is the unit ball

Existence of an Antisymmetric Solution of a Boundary Value Problem with Antiperiodic Boundary Conditions [PDF]
In this work, an application is made of a recent extension of the Leggett-Williams fixed point theorem, commonly referred to as an Avery type fixed point theorem, to a second order boundary value problem with antiperiodic boundary conditions.

Comment on `Wedges, cones, cosmic strings and their vacuum energy'
A recent paper (2012 \emph{J. Phys.\ A} \textbf{45} 374018) is extended by investigating the behavior of the regularized quantum scalar stress tensor near the axes of cones and their covering manifold, the Dowker space.

Principal Solutions Revisited [PDF]
The main objective of this paper is to identify principal solutions associated with Sturm-Liouville operators on arbitrary open intervals $(a,b) \subseteq \mathbb{R}$, as introduced by Leighton and Morse in the scalar context in 1936 and by Hartman in ...

Sampling Theorems for Sturm Liouville Problem with Moving Discontinuity Points
In this paper, we investigate the sampling analysis for a new Sturm-Liouville problem with symmetrically located discontinuities which are defined to depending on a neighborhood of a midpoint of the interval.

Evans function and Fredholm determinants [PDF]
We explore the relationship between the Evans function, transmission coefficient and Fredholm determinant for systems of first order linear differential operators on the real line.

This paper presents sufficient conditions for the solvability of the third order three point boundary value problem \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{c} -u^{\prime \prime \prime }(t)=f(t,\,v(t),\,v^{\prime }(t)) \\ -v^{\prime \prime \prime }(t)=h(t,

New results for the Liebau phenomenon via fixed point index
We prove new results regarding the existence of positive solutions for a nonlinear periodic boundary value problem related to the Liebau phenomenon. As a consequence we obtain new sufficient conditions for the existence of a pump in a simple model.

On Dirichlet-to-Neumann Maps, Nonlocal Interactions, and Some Applications to Fredholm Determinants [PDF]
We consider Dirichlet-to-Neumann maps associated with (not necessarily self-adjoint) Schrodinger operators describing nonlocal interactions in $L^2(\Omega; d^n x)$, $n\geq 2$, where $\Omega$ is an open set with a compact, nonempty boundary satisfying ...

Wedges, Cones, Cosmic Strings, and the Reality of Vacuum Energy
One of J. Stuart Dowker's most significant achievements has been to observe that the theory of diffraction by wedges developed a century ago by Sommerfeld and others provided the key to solving two problems of great interest in general-relativistic ...
