Beyond the Classroom at Dallas College: Documenting a Framework for Student Parents’ College Success

open access: yesNew Directions for Community Colleges, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Student parents make up a substantial share of community college enrollment, yet the support that exists is often dispersed across offices. In this article, we review and summarize research on the importance of student services for community college student parents.

A Self‐Sustained System for Producing Green Hydrogen via Moisture Power

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
A multifunctional PAM‐PSSA‐MgCl2 gel enables a self‐powered Moisture‐Electricity‐Water‐Hydrogen system that harvests atmospheric water, generates electricity via moisture‐driven processes, and directly electrolyzes the collected water for hydrogen production. The material delivers 1.87 V, 450 μA cm−2 (MEG), and 1.318 g g−1 (AWH) water uptake, achieving

Oxidation of Allylic Alcohols by Manganese Oxides: Elucidating the Influences of MnOx Structure and Mn Oxidation State on Reactivity

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Manganese oxides (MnOX) of different structures and with different Mn oxidation states exhibit significant variation in their reactivity toward the oxidation of allylic alcohols. Using two allylic alcohol model substrates, we demonstrate the relationship between activity and MnOX structure, Mn4+ content and incorporated secondary cations.

Dual‐Functional Polystyrene‐Based Borate Complexes: Recyclable Alkyl Radical Sources and Photodegradable Absorbents

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Dual‐functional polystyrene‐based polymers bearing 2,2′‐(pyridine‐2,6‐diyl)diphenol (PDP) moieties form photoexcitable alkyl borate complexes: (i) As recyclable radical sources, they enable Giese‐type additions with facile purification by reprecipitation and demonstrate proof‐of‐concept for polymer recovery (50% PDP regeneration).

Triptycene‐Based Tripodal Molecular Platforms: A Comparative Study of Photoswitchable Langmuir–Blodgett Films on Metallic and Nonmetallic Surfaces

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A modular triptycene‐based platform enables the preparation of Langmuir–Blodgett monolayers of structurally diverse molecular photoswitches on quartz and gold. Surface‐sensitive characterization and optical spectroscopy demonstrate that the intrinsic switching behavior is retained after surface immobilization. ABSTRACT Photoswitchable molecular systems
