Second-order sufficient conditions in the sparse optimal control of a phase field tumor growth model with logarithmic potential [PDF]

open access: yesE S A I M: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations, 2023
This paper treats a distributed optimal control problem for a tumor growth model of viscous Cahn--Hilliard type. The evolution  of the tumor fraction is governed by a thermodynamic force induced by a double-well potential of logarithmic type.

Bifurcation and sensitivity analysis reveal key drivers of multistability in a model of macrophage polarization

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2020
In this paper, we present and analyze a mathematical model for polarization of a single macrophage which, despite its simplicity, exhibits complex dynamics in terms of multistability.

Bifurcations for a deterministic SIR epidemic model in discrete time

open access: yesAdvances in Differential Equations, 2014
In this paper, we are concerned with the theoretical analysis of the bifurcations for a deterministic SIR epidemic model in discrete time. By deriving equations describing flows on the center manifolds, we discuss the transcritical bifurcation at the ...

The evolution of resource distribution, slow diffusion, and dispersal strategies in heterogeneous populations

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, 2023
Population diffusion in river-ocean ecologies and for wild animals, including birds, mainly depends on the availability of resources and habitats. This study explores the dynamics of the resource-based competition model for two interacting species in ...

Modelling, Analysis and Calculation of Cerebral Hemodynamics

open access: yesComputational and Mathematical Methods in Medicine, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 205-223, 2007., 2007
Mathematical models of cerebral hemodynamics, applicable to humans and rats have been developed and analysed with the purpose of reaching a deeper insight to which degree experimental results on rats can be extrapolated to humans and to clinical management of patients. These models include regulation mechanisms involving the small cerebral arteries and

On circle map coupled map lattice

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 2003, Issue 45, Page 2887-2896, 2003., 2003
The circle map in one and two dimensions is studied. Both its stability and synchronization, using a bounded control and persistence, are discussed. This work is expected to be applicable in ecology where spatial effects are known to be important. Also, it will be relevant to systems where delay effects are not negligible.

Growth of Phytoplankton

open access: yesBiomedical Journal of Scientific & Technical Research, 2019
A central problem in biological dynamical systems is to determine the boundaries of evolution. Although this is a general problem, we prefer to give solutions for growth of the phytoplankton. AMS Mathematical Classiftcation: 92D40, 35B36, 35Q92, 37N25.

Global analysis of a cocirculating target cells HIV model with differential drug efficacy and nonlinear incidence rate

open access: yes, 2016
The main purpose of this work is to investigate the qualitative behavior of an HIV dynamics model with two types of cocirculating target cells. The model takes into account both short-lived and long lived chronically infected cells.

STABILITY ANALYSIS OF THE EULER DISCRETIZATION FOR THE HARVESTING LESLIE-GOWER PREDATOR-PREY MODEL

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, a harvesting Leslie-Gower equations is discretized using the forward Euler method. The dynamical properties of the resulted discrete system is then analysed.

Fractional Order Plant‐Herbivore Dynamics: From Stability to Chaos Control

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This study investigates the dynamic behavior of a discrete‐time plant‐herbivore model incorporating conformable fractional‐order derivatives and a toxin‐dependent functional response. The model is discretized using a piecewise constant argument approach, enabling the analysis of memory effects and nonlocal interactions in ecological dynamics.
