Round Table Session on “3D-City-Modeling”

eCAADe proceedings, 2002
According to eCAADe’s mission, the exchange and collaboration within the area of computer aided architectural design education and research, while respecting the pedagogical and administrative approaches in the different schools and countries, can be regarded as a core activity. On the occasion of eCAADe 2001 in Helsinki a working session on the topic “

CityGML – Interoperable semantic 3D city models

ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, 2012
Abstract CityGML is the international standard of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) for the representation and exchange of 3D city models. It defines the three-dimensional geometry, topology, semantics and appearance of the most relevant topographic objects in urban or regional contexts.

3D City Modeling Using Cognitive Loops

Third International Symposium on 3D Data Processing, Visualization, and Transmission (3DPVT'06), 2006
3D city modeling using computer vision is very challenging. A typical city contains objects which are a nightmare for some vision algorithms, while other algorithms have been designed to identify exactly these parts but, in their turn, suffer from other weaknesses which limit their application.

Illustrative visualization of 3D city models

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
The paper presents an illustrative visualization technique that provides expressive representations of large-scale 3D city models, inspired by the tradition of artistic and cartographic visualizations typically found in bird’s-eye view maps and panoramic maps. First, a collection of city model components is defined.

Attribute grammar for 3D city models

2009
In this paper we show how attribute grammar formalism can be used as a modelling language for three dimensional geometric models. We focus on 3D building models and their decomposition into building parts. The specification of aggregation and the inheritance of shared parameters is discussed.

Hybrid 3D Segmentation Technique for 3D City Models

2014
3D city model is a virtual representation of a city or urban environment, where in GIS related context, represents existing cities in the world. Initially, they are used only as presentations that complement the results of 2D analyses and bear no analytical capabilities. The advancement in computer graphics technology has effectively sparked the effort

Towards a Semantic 3D Model of Sofia City

2021
More and more cities worldwide are working on their digital transformation in order to deliver better living environment for citizens. Over the last decades, a lot of research efforts are dedicated to development of semantic 3D city models, covering variety city dimensions based on standards such as CityGML.

Modeling Cities in 3D: A Cellular Automaton Approach

Environment and Planning B: Planning and Design, 2008
This paper presents a quasi-3D cellular automaton (CA) simulation model of cities. A 2D CA model includes a cell attribute that represents building height information. Dynamic processes are depicted using four parameters: initial building coverage, interaction with adjacent neighborhood, inertia, and noise.

3D City Modelling from LIDAR Data

2008
Airborne Laser Surveying (ALS) or LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) becomes more and more popular because it provides a rapid 3D data collection over a massive area. The captured 3D data contains terrain models, forestry, 3D buildings and so on. Current research combines other data resources on extracting building information or uses pre-defined ...
