Disparity-Based 3D Face Modeling for 3D Face Recognition

2006 International Conference on Image Processing, 2006
We present an automatic disparity-based approach for 3D face modeling, from two frontal and one profile view stereo images, for 3D face recognition applications. Once the images are captured, the algorithm starts by extracting selected 2D facial features from one of the frontal views and computes a dense disparity map from the two frontal images.

3D Face Recognition

2012
Face recognition using standard 2D images struggles to cope with changes in illumination and pose. 3D face recognition algorithms have been more successful in dealing with these challenges. 3D face shape data is used as an independent cue for face recognition and has also been combined with texture to facilitate multimodal face recognition ...

Face Recognition with 3D Face Asymmetry

2016
Using of 3D images for the identification was in a field of the interest of many researchers which developed a few methods offering good results. However, there are few techniques exploiting the 3D asymmetry amongst these methods. We propose fast algorithm for rough extraction face asymmetry that is used to 3D face recognition with hidden Markov models.

Automatic 3D reconstruction for face recognition

Sixth IEEE International Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition, 2004. Proceedings., 2004
An analysis-by-synthesis framework for face recognition with variant pose, illumination and expression (PIE) is proposed in this paper. First, an efficient 2D-to-3D integrated face reconstruction approach is introduced to reconstruct a personalized 3D face model from a single frontal face image with neutral expression and normal illumination.

Compression for 3D face recognition applications

2007 IEEE Conference on Advanced Video and Signal Based Surveillance, 2007
This paper proposes a novel 3D lossy compression algorithm tailored for 3D faces. We analyse the effects of compression on the face verification rate and measure recognition performances on the face recognition grand challenge database. Whilst preserving the spatial resolution enabling reconstruction of surface details, the proposed scheme achieves ...

Intelligent 3D Face Recognition

2008
Face recognition technology has been a focus both in academia and industry for the last couple of years because of its wide potential application and its importance to meet the security needs of today's world. This paper proposes a method to tackle an important problem in 3D face recognition: the deformation of facial geometry that results from the ...

Twins 3D face recognition challenge

2011 International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB), 2011
Existing 3D face recognition algorithms have achieved high enough performances against public datasets like FRGC v2, that it is difficult to achieve further significant increases in recognition performance. However, the 3D TEC dataset is a more challenging dataset which consists of 3D scans of 107 pairs of twins that were acquired in a single session ...

Advances in 3D-Based Face Recognition

The 2006 IEEE International Joint Conference on Neural Network Proceedings, 2006
Biometrics methods use unique patterns of a bodily feature for identification. Unlike passwords or pin numbers, biometrics cannot be lost or forgotten. Biometrics include fingerprints, iris, height, voice, fact. Automatic face recognition has attracted substantial research attention in the last fifteen years.

Influence of compression on 3D face recognition

Pattern Recognition Letters, 2009
This paper studies how the performance of a 3D face recognition system is affected by compression. A novel lossy compression technique tailored for registered 3D data along with a scheme for 3D face registration and recognition are presented and the results discussed.
