A 3D Geometric Morphometric Analysis of the Palatal Morphology in Marfan’s Syndrome: A Preliminary Study

open access: yesJOURNAL OF CLINICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC RESEARCH, 2018
Introduction: Marfan’s Syndrome (MS) is a multisystem disorder of the connective tissue. A number of oral manifestations and craniofacial characteristics show a strong correlation with MS. There are no data available in the literature with regard to morphological characteristics of the maxilla in Marfan’s syndrome assessed by 3D morphometric analysis ...

AKAP1 Protects Retinal Ganglion Cells and Preserves Vision by Improving Mitochondrial and Synaptic Health in Glaucomatous Neurodegeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Intravitreal AAV2‐mediated AKAP1 restoration enhances mitochondrial fusion and biogenesis, improves bioenergetic capacity, and preserves mitochondrial integrity in glaucomatous RGCs. AKAP1 stabilizes presynaptic structure, maintaining synaptic protein expression, and limiting complement‐associated neuroinflammation.

Deep Learning Classification of Pancreatic Cancer Cells Over a Progression of Epithelial to Mesenchymal States by Deformability Cytometry Under Microfluidic Viscoelastic Flows

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Cancer cells progressively spread over intermediate epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition states that cause nuclear enlargement and circular redistribution of filamentous vimentin are classified by deformability cytometry coupled to a multi‐region deep learning model with convolutional feature extraction and attention‐based regional aggregation.

A Novel Constitutional TUBB Variant Associated With Familial Malformations of Cortical Development

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Most pathogenic tubulin variants arise de novo in sporadic patients, causing severe brain malformations and significant neurodevelopmental impairment. The resulting reproductive disadvantage typically prevents these mutations from being transmitted to offspring.

Accelerated Brain Atrophy in Epilepsy: A Prospective Population‐Based Study

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Previous longitudinal neuroimaging studies suggest that epilepsy is a progressive disorder. To date, these findings have relied largely on populations from tertiary centers, resulting in ascertainment bias, as severely affected individuals are more likely to be rescanned.

Scaffold‐Free Living Cellular Structure With Omnidirectional Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Hydrogel lumen confinement enables the direct formation of mechanically stable, scaffold‐free cellular filaments under entirely aqueous, phototoxicity‐free conditions. These processable living building blocks support omnidirectional assembly into complex three‐dimensional architectures, providing a simple and versatile platform for scaffold‐free ...

The impact of alignment and scaling on biological inferences from landmark-free morphometrics. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Anat
Landmark‐free morphometrics promises advancements in shape quantification for biology, but widespread adoption is hampered by concerns over reproducibility. We compare 3D mesh alignment and scaling protocols on a prominent landmark‐free approach, Deterministic Atlas Analysis, finding inconsistencies in centroid size distribution and variance structure.

How Sex Shapes Facial Morphology in Adults: A 3D Geometric Morphometric Study

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background/Objectives: An accurate description of facial sexual dimorphism is essential in clinical, forensic, and anthropological contexts to support accurate diagnosis of craniofacial dysmorphisms and differences, treatment planning and evaluation, as well as biological profiling, craniofacial reconstruction, and personal identification.
