3D threat image projection

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
Automated Explosive Detection Systems utilizing Computed Tomography perform a series X-ray scans of passenger bags being checked in at the airport, and produce various 2-D projection images and 3-D volumetric images of the bag. The determination as to whether the passenger bag contains an explosive and needs to be searched manually is performed through

Stereoscopic 3D image stylization

Computers & Graphics, 2013
We present a method for stylizing stereoscopic 3D images that guarantees consistency between the left and right views. Our method decomposes the left and right views of an input image into discretized disparity layers and merges the corresponding layers from the left and right views into a single layer where stylization takes place.

3D Ultrasound Imaging of the Spine

2022
In recent years, the amount of publications related to the study of spine using ultrasound, especially on scoliosis, has rapidly increased. Many new methods and application related to 3D ultrasound imaging for scoliosis assessment have been recently reported. The capabilities of three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound to visualize the vertebrae features such

Quality Improvement in 3D Imaging

American Journal of Roentgenology, 2012
The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of a quality control program on reducing errors in the generation of 3D images. The average monthly error rate in reports by six 3D technologists (0.5-11 years of experience) using standardized clinical protocols was observed over 3 months.

3D image understanding in radiology

IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Magazine, 1990
The role of 3-D imaging in medicine and the questions it raises regarding what should be automated and how the information is to be used are addressed. The discussion then turns to imagery generated by equipment using computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR) images, or positron/single-photon emission tomograms (PET/SPECT).

3D Medical Image Processing

2007
Three-dimensional (3D) medical image processing is a large field that has evolved in recent years, leading to a major improvement in patient care. The revolutionary capabilities of new 3D and 4D medical imaging modalities, along with computer reconstruction, visualization, and analysis of multi-dimensional medical volume image data, provide powerful ...

3D imaging of ice sheets

2010 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2010
We developed and deployed, in July 2005, a wideband 8-channel synthetic aperture radar (SAR) at Summit Camp, Greenland (72.5783° N and 38.4596° W). The radar was designed to map internal layers, measure topography, and generate backscatter maps - all in a single pass [1]. Information on ice thickness, bed topography and basal conditions is essential to
