Modeling 3D euclidean geometry [PDF]
This article compares five models of 3D Euclidean geometry-not theoretically, but by demonstrating how to implement a simple recursive ray tracer in each of them. It's meant as a tangible case study of the profitability of choosing an appropriate model, discussing the trade-offs between elegance and performance for this particular application.

3D channel model in 3GPP [PDF]
Multi-antenna techniques capable of exploiting the elevation dimension are anticipated to be an important air-interface enhancement targeted to handle the expected growth in mobile traffic. In order to enable the development and evaluation of such multi-antenna techniques, the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) has recently developed a 3 ...

Abstract Glioma is one of the most malignant types of cancer and most gliomas remain incurable. One of the hallmarks of glioma is its invasiveness. Furthermore, glioma cells tend to readily detach from the primary tumor and travel through the brain tissue, making complete tumor resection impossible in many cases ...

1D Model for the 3D Magnetohydrodynamics
We propose a one-dimensional (1D) model for the three-dimensional(3D) incompressible ideal magnetohydrodynamics. We establish a regularity criterion of the Beale-Kato-Majda type for this 1D model. Without the stretching effect, the model with only transport effect equipped with a proper sign is shown to have global in time strong solution.

Digital, Three-Dimensional Visualization of Root Systems in Peat
Belowground plant structures are inherently difficult to observe in the field. Sedge peat that mainly consists of partly decayed roots and rhizomes offers a particularly challenging soil matrix to study (live) plant roots.

Measurement of combined gap in whole process of transmission lines' live working based on 3D laser point cloud [PDF]
Transmission lines’ live working is one of an effective means to ensure the reliable operation of transmission lines. In order to solve the unsafe problems existing in the implementation of traditional live working, the paper uses ground-based lidar to ...

Using CBIR and semantics in 3D-model retrieval [PDF]
This paper proposes a generic design for 3D model retrieval. It has been developed in cooperation with EADS, which deals with Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Engineering (below CAD/CAE) data through the product life cycle.

Rubber Impact on 3D Textile Composites [PDF]
A low velocity impact study of aircraft tire rubber on 3D textile-reinforced composite plates was performed experimentally and numerically. In contrast to regular unidirectional composite laminates, no delaminations occur in such a 3D textile composite ...
