An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Real-Time 3D Modeling for Accelerated and Safer Construction Using Emerging Technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The research presented in this paper enables real-time 3D modeling to help make construction processes ultimately faster, more predictable and safer. Initial research efforts used an emerging sensor technology and proved its usefulness in the acquisition

Towards Automated Retrieval of 3D Designed Data in 3D Sensed Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Construction productivity, one major project performance indicator, requires the continuous assessment of construction progress over time. Current practices for construction progress assessment are labour intensive, expensive, and generally result in ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

The Kumtor gold deposit in the Middle Tien Shan, Kyrgyzstan, and the application of 3-D modeling in Seequent’s Leapfrog Geo software for the geological exploration

open access: yesРуды и металлы, 2023
The Kumtor deposit is one of the largest gold deposits in the Tien Shan. The ore zones are localized in rocks of the black shale formation, in an amagmatic gently dipping structure.
