Modeling 3D euclidean geometry [PDF]
This article compares five models of 3D Euclidean geometry-not theoretically, but by demonstrating how to implement a simple recursive ray tracer in each of them. It's meant as a tangible case study of the profitability of choosing an appropriate model, discussing the trade-offs between elegance and performance for this particular application.

3D channel model in 3GPP [PDF]
Multi-antenna techniques capable of exploiting the elevation dimension are anticipated to be an important air-interface enhancement targeted to handle the expected growth in mobile traffic. In order to enable the development and evaluation of such multi-antenna techniques, the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) has recently developed a 3 ...

Abstract Glioma is one of the most malignant types of cancer and most gliomas remain incurable. One of the hallmarks of glioma is its invasiveness. Furthermore, glioma cells tend to readily detach from the primary tumor and travel through the brain tissue, making complete tumor resection impossible in many cases ...

Rubber Impact on 3D Textile Composites [PDF]
A low velocity impact study of aircraft tire rubber on 3D textile-reinforced composite plates was performed experimentally and numerically. In contrast to regular unidirectional composite laminates, no delaminations occur in such a 3D textile composite ...

Multiscale damage modelling of 3D woven composites under static and impact loads [PDF]
A multiscale progressive damage modelling methodology for 3-dimensional (3D) woven composites is presented. The proposed methodology is generic and can be implemented in most finite element software to create a digital twin for simulation of damage ...

Supporting Focus and Context Awareness in 3D Modelling Tasks Using Multi-Layered Displays [PDF]
Most 3D modelling software have been developed for conventional 2D displays, and as such, lack support for true depth perception. This contributes to making polygonal 3D modelling tasks challenging, particularly when models are complex and consist of a ...

Constraint-based bare-hand immersive 3D modelling
Three-dimensional user interfaces that are controlled by the user’s bare hands are mostly based on purely gesture-based interaction techniques. However, these interfaces are often slow and error prone.

1D Model for the 3D Magnetohydrodynamics
We propose a one-dimensional (1D) model for the three-dimensional(3D) incompressible ideal magnetohydrodynamics. We establish a regularity criterion of the Beale-Kato-Majda type for this 1D model. Without the stretching effect, the model with only transport effect equipped with a proper sign is shown to have global in time strong solution.

Methodology for automatic recovering of 3D partitions from unstitched faces of non-manifold CAD models [PDF]
Data exchanges between different software are currently used in industry to speed up the preparation of digital prototypes for Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
